NFL Game Day Drug testing

So last week the NFL announced that part of the new collective bargaining agreement includes Game Day Drug testing. If it works there could be some empty sidelines on Sunday afternoons.

  1. Good Morning from Omaha,

most peoples jobs involve drug testing as part of the process. and the NFL is different, how? It doesn’t seem these guys get it.

Hopefully they will test for things like steriods and human growth hormone as well as illegal substances. in places like colorado, where there is a thriving “medicinal” marijuana business, if a player can show that he did indeed inhale, but it was for medicinal purposes will the NFL have a leg to stand on?

strive for excellence, nothing but your best.

  2. I see Vegas sportsbooks opening a whole new betting activity…. odds on players popping on their tests. Interestingly, if the test results come out before game time, the oddsmakers will go crazy trying to rebalance before game time. Fantasy football fanatics will have to build-in strategies for dealing with when a player is DQ’d. Overall, the testing could lead to some really amazing random outcomes… and maybe a few players playing with the talents they developed rather than injected…

  3. I only see PED’s as an issue, and even then, there’s a lot of hypocrisy in the controversy – many other fields, from actors to fighter pilots and truckers, are frequently on PEDs just as a course of their jobs. I don’t really care if a player has marijuana in his system. Actually, I think a player should be PRAISED if he can play football while baked – it mellows you out, something that is counterproductive to high-stress competitive athletics (and probably a reason so many do it post-game). After all, recall Dock Ellis’ No-hitter on Acid…

  4. How long before they pass out cups for the fans at the gate on the way out of the stadium? Or breatholizer everybody…
