Ohio State: Runaway Train

Uncategorized

Today marks a new beginning of sorts. I join the great folks over at Universal UClick as they take over the distribution of my national sports cartoons. I look forward to blazing new trails with Universal and want to thank them for taking me on. My cartoons are distributed 2 times a week to newspapers and websites across the country (Yahoo.com features them rather nicely). I had been with United Features since 1984.  All of the features, comics, editorial cartoons, puzzles and stuff  for United Features (including my partner in crime at the Rocky Mountain news, Ed Stein) have been moved over to Universal due to the consolidation of United by Scripps Howard. It’s all business stuff but I thought you should know what the little tag line next to my signature is all about.

  1. Dear Drew,

Somewhere I can see the spirit of Woody Haryes laughing his backside off because this whole incident with Jim Tressel is making people forget about the horrible things he did.

    All the best.

  2. Good Morning from Omaha,

Its going to be a great day…stepped out of the house to ride my bike and there was a deer walking across the street in front of my house. Can’t get better than that.

Neat deal you made with the new syndicate, Drew.Hopefully you will be able to attract a little more attention and make a little more money. Its also nice that you could bring your partner in crime along with you.

OSU is probably just the tip of the ice berg. If you could peel back the layers at a lot of institutions of higher learning and their athletic departments you would probably find similar situations. All of the devils don’t live in Columbus, Ohio…there might be a few in Lincoln, denver, Austin, Norman, Gainesville, Miami, shreveport…name the school and you will probably find the devil residing in the athletic program. Round ball, or football..he’s in there somewhere. THE ohio state university was just the unfortunate one that got caught.

Strive for excellence, nothing but your best.

    Gene
