Ubaldo: Thanks for the memories!

Uncategorized

This was a cartoon I did last May about the amazing Ubaldo Jimenez.

I had the chance to see Ubaldo pitch recently at Coors Field against the Braves. His stuff that night was electric. I guess not electric enough to keep him off of the trading block. He will be missed. The Rox picked up some good prospects which is always helpful, but it’s still hard to see such a great pitcher get traded. More details about the deal can be found here: http://www.denverpost.com/rockies/ci_18591786 and a great column by my old friend from the Rocky Mountain News, Mr. Dave Krieger

I added the Caption Contest in the sidebar and you can continue to add your caption entries by clicking right on the cartoon!

  1. Good Morning from Omaha,

Evidently the year in baseball is over in denver and the rebuilding project is beginning. Ubaldo is a very good pitcher whose value is evident. the prospects are just that, prospects.

the slayoR did the same thing with Grienke and got some fielding prospect who have panned out fairly well but like most teams feeding from the bottom of the league they need pitching. they have gone to a five man rotation with several #2 and #3 starters but not a true number one in the bunch and that is what the record shows.

Oh well, there is always next year in KC or the year after that or the year after that. In denver the rocks are not that far off the mark. at least, while not a bulls eye, they are at least hitting the target more often than not. In KC they seem to be really good at being able to miss even the target.

Strive for excellence, nothing but your best.

    Gene

  2. I am surprised that there are not more comments. From what I hear the town is not happy. It is sad that the Rockies have traded him, don’t think i can put into words what it feels like. I wonder how his teammates read the trade? Does it leave them feeling like the season is over and there is nothing but next year? Or is that just how I see it?
