Tebow: V is for Victory

I think it’s safe to say that Tim Tebow had the last laugh. John Elway proclaimed to reporters earlier in the week that Tebow still might not be the Broncos quarterback of the future. Well, I know that could still be the case, but Tebow isn’t making Elway’s decision making process any easier. Tebow continues to defy NFL logic and just keeps winning. And winning, after all, is really what it’s all about. Here’s a few more random thoughts:

1. Yesterdays officiating was the worst I have seen in sometime. Officials missed a blatant interference call, a facemask on Tebow and a chep shot to Tebow as he was running to get out of bounds. Usually officials blow calls on both sides of the ball. Not yesterday. It was lopsided. No truth to the rumor they all reside in San Diego, but judging from their performance I wouldn’t be surprised.

2. Willis McGahee continues to carry the offense. He’s a joy to watch because he accelerates right up the field, hitting the holes the offensive line opens. IN other words, he’s not Knowshon Romero. Thank goodness.

3. Speaking of Offensive Line, have they been amazing or what? Tebow often had time to order take out and eat it too.

4. Two names. Elvis. and Von. Monsters of the Mile High.

5. OK. Time for your thoughts about all of this. But first just a note. Pre-orders for the 2012 DrewLitton.com Sports calendar can be made in the Brand New Drew Litton store. We expect the calendars in the studio sometime next week and we’ll start shipping as soon as we have them in hand. You can also grab a few of your favorite prints or originals as I get them uploaded in the next day or two.

  1. Dear Drew,

This current Bronco team are the latest version of the “Cardiac Kids”. I didn’t see the whole game because I was getting Broadband installed in my house. When the installers came in they asked what the score was. When I told them San Diego was leading 10-0 (at the time) one of them smiled and said,”All right. Now we’ve got them where we want them.” (true story)

Right now I’d say John Fox is a serious contender for “Coach of the Year” honors. To win with the style of football they’re playing is a testament to his abilities to be flexable, adustable and any other kind of “able” you can think of.

At the rate Tebow is going he could be eclipsing John Elway’s 4th quarter comeback record in only a few seasons.

    All the best

    Louis

  2. Good Morning from Omaha,

Its going to be hard to end tebowmania- but let him fail if he is going too but they are proving that football is a team game and the Bronco’s are winning or losing as a team. Tebow is a not all that bad at passing as there were a lot of dropped passes yesterday. Yes he did toss some into the heavens but several were just plain dropped. He doesn’t make it easy for his receivers but there were several that hit them in the body.

And that DEFENSE kept it close for all this too be possible. Gloom and Doom has all but replaced the orange crush!

When you have a hot hand at QB you ride it out. Fox is letting Tebow and his abilities to there best advantage. So far so good. But let him have one bad game and the boo birds will be back.

Remember football is a team game and Tebow has inspired the best in all. And you win or lose as a team, not just at QB.

Strive for excellence, nothing but your best.

  3. You hit spot on with this one, Drew. I will admit, that Tebow is starting to convert me over. As Gene stated, he is starting to show improvement with his passing ability, but there were some other times when it just wasn’t that good and the ball went all wibbly wobbly.

I like that they’re winning, that will always bring me joy, but I still state that if Tebow played the remaining 55 minutes like he plays the last 5 minutes, there would be no need for last minute drives to win the game – we’d be up 62-20. The entire team needs better consistency – however, considering this is the “rebuilding” year, I think they’re doing better than expected.

Hope you had a good Thanksgiving weekend, I’ll be saving up for that Calendar!

  4. People down here in South Texas are still asking me if I want or am getting a Tebow jersey for Christmas; I tell them no, thank you. I want a Von Miller jersey.

I have to agree with the crew on the CBS football show; Tebow needs to be as comfortable passing as he is running a bootleg or dumping off to Willis. But I am pleased, as he has just surpassed last year’s complete win mark set by Orton and the Boy Wonder.

There’s still some rebuilding left to do. But Fox has at least swept away most of the rubble from the previous owner and begun rebuilding the foundation. We can now wear our Broncos t-shirts and jerseys in public with a little more pride.

  5. A win is a win no matter how you get it. I would have preferred to win during regulation, but the fact that we even got to OT was because of the teams efforts. Personally though I don’t care who is quarter back as long as the team is winning, and only give a damn when they keep giving those we almost did it if only speeches that sound so phoney when the team is loosing. That is when I start to feel that maybe they should find some one else for me to root for.

  6. Elway and Tebow remind me of classic duos like Laurel & Hardy or Abbott & Costello, mixed with a little Miagi & Daniel (Karate Kid I & II). Elway is the straight man to Tebow’s unorthodox (some would say “comedic”) style of play. Yet, Tebow needs Elway’s example, as much as he needs Coaches Gase and McCoy’s direction, to hone his skills.

The Broncos are winning as a team. Everyone is contributing, and supporting one another. Most everything was in sync for the offense, defense and special teams yesterday. Tebow has never played better. You can tell that he is really trying to put into play all of the things he learns during the week’s practice. This year’s Broncos show us all that football games are won by a team, not an individual – and that is way the game should be played. Dumervil and Miller were the Dynamic Defensive Duo yesterday; and Prater came through in a clutch situation.

I love the “rabbit ears,” Drew. In as much as Tebow is experiencing his greatest year of growth and challenge as a football player, he is still very much a “kid” in this league. What kid doesn’t like to have a little fun at their elder’s expense? You crack me up, Drew, and I can tell you had fun in drawing this cartoon. “V” is for victory…and a win is a win! 🙂
