Remember SMU? Remember the Death Penalty? Well, there’s a good chance that Miami Hurricane football is about to get their just sentence. The scandal that has rocked the sports world in the last 24 hours is about to claim one of the “biggies” in NCAA football. Regardless of much needed reform in the NCAA, the violations that have been reported are stunning. A booster supplying money, cars, yacht trips, jewelry, televisions and other gifts to a list of players including Vince Wilfork, Jon Beason, Antrel Rolle, Devin Hester, Willis McGahee and the late Sean Taylor. The booster also claimed he paid for nightclub outings, sex parties, restaurant meals and in one case, an abortion for a woman impregnated by a player. This is beyond ugly. This is an horrific example of the worst slime and sleaze that can happen in sports at any level. It will be interesting to see how the NCAA deal with this.
