May the Farce be with you: College Football Playoff
It’s a farce, really. The event most of us have waited the better part of a lifetime to see, the first ever real college Football Playoff and it turns into a farce. We should have seen it coming. The massive egos, the greed that has made the college game nothing more than the minor leagues of the NFL. Still, I personally held out hope that it might not be merely a representation of the reprehensible, that it might not be yet another event that ESPN not only covers but plays a roll in shaping. Someday, maybe we will get a field of 16 teams that might, just maybe, include a real underdog that can upset one of the elites, one of the megacorporate football programs of the NCAA. A school that might actually care about the kids who play there. But what we are left with this year is all of the ugliness of what college football has become. For me I’m left with a feeling of emptiness. Like asking for an awesome Lionel Santa Fe Chief Train Set for Christmas only to find the box empty when you get it opened. Yeah. this playoff stinks. So it’s off to Amazon for me to order some decent movies to watch in place of this wretched excuse for a “real playoff”. Forgive me if I just don’t have the stomach for it.
