Tebow Time!. Finally. After the long wait. He’s not quite prime time ready but, hey, he’s playing. And that can be nothing but fun ahead. Let me know what you think!

  1. Drew,

I’m not sure if Tebow is ever going to be the Pro Bowl qb that Denver fans want him to be, but he certainly deserves the chance to show what he has. The comments in the other toon sum it up well in that he shows leadership qualities and the desire to not only play, but win. I’ll take those qualities any day over better mechanics.

He is nowhere near their league yet, but as I recall Terry Bradshaw and John Elway also struggled when they first came into the league. I think he shares what they had in the desire to work his tail off to improve and do whatever is needed to improve those around him.

I have said it for years and will continue to say that I will take heart and a strong work ethic over natural physical ability any day.

  2. Drew,

The prayerful diving pose is divine inspiration! May he be baptized in the waters of the Bronco… I’m stopping the analogy there.

  3. I was just as excited as you, Drew, to see Tebow get some playing time this past Sunday. I think the kid has potential. We definitely know he has the drive and determination. As Sunday’s game unfolded into yesterday’s announcement that Tebow had been named starting quarterback, I couldn’t help but think about Brady Quinn – a player with a year, or so, more experience in the NFL – and how tied Coach Fox’s hands must have felt over the past couple of weeks. “Why not play Quinn instead of Tebow?” I imaginatively asked coach. I think Quinn should have been given a chance. That’s just me I guess – wanting everyone to have an opportunity to show what they have. Admittedly, I don’t have access to a lot of the Bronco chatter on the airwaves, nor knowledge to Coach Fox’s thought process.

Fox is taking a leap of faith by anointing Tebow via baptism by football. One man does not a team make. However, Tebow brings excitement and energy to the fans; and especially, to his team and the game. I pray he does well, and works extra hard to bring everything he has to Miami in two weeks. He will be playing the game of his life.

  4. Dear Drew,

Great concept. If you don’t mind a little advice here keep this concept in mind because while Tim Tebow is taking the “plunge” right now by later on this season we will see if he “sinks or swim”. Of course if he sinks we could call him him the Tebow Titanic. (yeah, feel free to groan at that analogy. Not great but best I could think of. Of course if he “swims” maybe the “Walking on Water” analogy that “good ol’ george” suggested would work.

Just some silly thoughts at 1:14 in the morning from a foggy brain that hasn’t been able to sleep since coming home from dialysis tonight.

    All the best

  5. Good Morning from Omaha,

I don’t know if Tebow can play in the NFL but it was fun watching his efforts last sunday. He has the will to win and it seems to be infectious. I think we may be seeing an evolution in the quarterback position- to a more “involved” player meaning that while Brady, rogers, Rivers and Brees are very good at what they do they are not much of a threat to run. The defense has had an 11 on 10 advantage for the longest time. With tebow, and his running threat, its 11 even.

Its an experiment, like Vick and Young were and are. The pioneers always take the arrows clearing the path for the ones to come. I can’t say tebow will succeed but with his will to win, if he fails it won’t be because he did not try.

Strive for excellence, nothing but your best.

  6. Drew, the serene confident look is so perfect. I am glad to see his will to win getting in the game, it’s something we cannot quantify. As I have said before, it came with Romanowski, Lynch, Elway. As a fan you could feel how those player’s attitude lifted the team and the crowd. Pushed the other players to play above their very best. This move makes the season seem more fun, watching to see how he does. I’m way more happy about my NFL ticket now.

Hey, Gene, wasn’t Elway considered a mobile quarterback? How about the Mormon for Chicago, why can’t I think of his name? Jim whatever? Rabble rouser, headband wearer, it’s hell getting older. What about Randle Cunningham?

  7. GMFO-

I really did not consider Elway a runner although his roll outs and naked bootlegs were the most frustrating play in the NFL. The raiders had the ghost to the post, dave casper the tight end. don’t blame me- Madden called the play that and it was also tough to defend

Jim Mcmahon was a real wild card but had walter payton in the back field. IT goes back to finding the right pieces to surround him. start the hunt NOW and in a couple of years just wait and see.

OK I am a bit optimistic and my son, the foot ball coach swears I don’t know bupkis about football. so there

    Gene

  8. I’ll post this again when Drew does another relevant cartoon, but as a Raiders fan in need of a quarterback now that Campbell broke his collarbone, what do you Broncos fans think of trading us Orton for our fifth round draft pick? Would you do it?
