Get Ready to RRRRumbblle

So NASCAR updated it’s scoring system. I always thought the round by round scoring system worked.

Talk about Road rage…

I doubt I’ll really watch the Pro Bowl. Maybe the NHL all star game. Naw. I think it’s time for my recorded Green Hornet episodes to play while I draw away. Then again. I really want to watch them.

So maybe it’s just Bob Wills, Nat King Cole and Rush from the itunes library.

I’m busy finishing up a freelance job and working away on our special Sooper Sunday Madness animation episode. Next week will be crazy fun. Everyone have a great weekend as we get ready for da Sooper Bowl!

  1. Good Morning from Omaha,

Is it time for nascar to start, again? just when you thought it was safe to go out into the traffic some hill billy will think he is jeff gordon and he owns two of the three lanes of Dodge street!

there was talk about shortening the races because Nascar is finding that people WILL NOT watch a four hour race. who would have told them that? they watch the start and then end and not much in between. Nascar is finding, like so many other sports ( NO I am not saying Nascar is a sport) that when ticket prices get too high and the cost of concessions goes through the roof people can’t afford to attend. They rarely show the upper decks at a b-ball game because they are usually empty. If you watch the NFL there are a lot of empty seats and there were a lot of blackouts this year, more than ever before.

Got to write a ten page paper on an immigration issue for the class I am taking. I think I’ll choose the mantra of speaking english only. It has a very long history and ten pages should be cake.

Looking forward to the new animation and whatever else next week brings.

Strive for excellence, nothing but your best.

  2. Huh? Ok, not a NASCAR fan, but thought I would weigh in with a “Have a good weekend!” Whatever you end up relaxing to. Beach in the winter always nice, one of the perks of living in the NW.

  3. GMFO-

I have a live and let live attitude toward nascar- some idiot in Omaha is always trying to drive in city traffic like their favorite nascar driver. the comment was more about how sports in general are falling victim to their own greed and technical advancements.

Everyone can see the price of tickets going through the roof and with the price of parking and concessions most major sports are pricing themselves out of the middle class american market.

HDTV, recliners, a/c or heat with your favorite beverage and snack close at hand often give the viewer a better seat than any available at the venue of their choice.

The result is stadiums that are two thirds full. Soon, 15-20 years, most football, baseball and basketball games are going to be available on a pay per view channel. As an example, right now you can buy a NFL season ticket for $249. Any game from anywhere. For a 16 game season, like the NFL- that come out to $15.56 a game. There is no limit as to how many people you can have watch the game with you from the comfort of your living room- as long as they bring their own snacks. $15.56 as opposed to $125 a seat for 4 seats at a Chiefs game or $500.

Technology and greed are going to kill most of the major sports in America until and unless the owners and players get a handle on the changes that are coming at them like a freight train headed out of Denver!

They best put something in the CBA about this or by the time the agreement ends- there will not be much left to negotiate over.

    Have a great weekend!

  4. NASCAR is learning the same lesson that the NHL learned awhile back: Dumping your hotbed to expand your mark isn’t always sucessful. Two California races, two Vegas races and a Chicago race at the expense of the Darlingtons and Martinsvilles can backfire.

For the first time in years, attendance and viewership are declining, which is unfortunate: Jimmie Johnson is making his own case for being the G.O.A.T. in an era where the cars are identical, making pit crews, consistency and driving skill all the more important.

A’nuther thought: It always struck me odd that the vast majority of NASCAR’s fan base is politically conservative, while the sport they love – with its myriad of regulations designed to make every car identical and erase any sign of personal innovation – seems to celebrate socialism.

  5. Gene, Sherri and Badger,

Sorry I haven’t responded to great comments you guys have left. I’ve been cranking my way through our Super Bowl animation. I know, NASCAR isn’t exactly my cup of tea either. I’d rather watch paint dry really. My brother, Allan is a big fan. I know little about cars, and I’m not particularly good at drawing them. so, don’t worry, you won’t be getting a lot of these cartoons on the blog.
