Why Vick will Play.

Money. It’s all about the Money. I did this cartoon last week for NEA (United Features ) my syndicate, in anticipation of what I thought would be a hot topic. Often when I am going out of town I will draw ahead.

I thought this would work better here when I returned. Yesterday after Matty G left a comment about the money I knew the time was right. It’s always about the money.

Question of the Day

Which NFL team do you think is greedy enough to sign Michael Vick?

  1. Good morning from Omaha,

If Vick goes to the NFL he will end up in either Oakland, Al loves the criminal element if they can play ball,

or are you ready, Minnesota, where Tavarus Jackson doesn’t seem to have a complete grasp on the job, and he is being followed by an Iowa State alum, Sage Rosenful. They could use some help if these two don’t work out.

But .ike you said, its all about the money and even though Michael is damaged goods, there is still a cost someone will pay for him.

Strive from excellence, nothing but your best.

    Gene

  2. Vick’s old coach Jim Mora may be up in Seattle, but he’s not coming up here.

  3. I would really like to see the eletric Michael Vick here in Denver but I think that is too far fetched. I think the following teams may step up to the plate and make an offer to Vick: Carolina, Jacksonville, Tampa Bay, Washington, Minnesota, or St. Louis in no particular number. Vick spells out dollars signs in the owners eyes, and I am suprised that alot more teams are not talking to Vick. The other organiztion that is drooling dollar signs over Michael Vick is ESPN, whatever team he goes to ESPN will follow. More press more attention means more money for everyone except the home viewers. Makes sense, right?!

  4. I know this is an un-popular opinion, but I honestly don’t see much wrong with what Vick did. Pitty’s are fighting dogs. I don’t think this would have been a big deal if he were say – snake fighting. Because people look at snakes as dirty or scary.

Anyhow – regardless of right or wrong (I believe the consensus is WRONG!!) but he served his time, let him play wherever. If he doesn’t perform on the field, then send him packing.

Vick is an idiot – just the same as probably 85% of professional athletes. But guess what, we all LOVE sports – and pay to see them. So, there is no sense in arguing that Vick is more of a “bad person” than the next pro athlete.

  5. While I disagree with Andy’s opinion on the treatment of animals (I don’t care if it’s snakes, dogs, cats, or wombats, pitting animals against each other is cruel and if you think that it’s okay to do that, ypu have a couple screws loose) I do agree with the assessment that Vick has served his time, and should be allowed to get back to work.

People forget it’s not just about the 2 years in jail, it’s about the tens of millions he’s lost in salary, endorsements etc, plus he will never be looked at the same again, nor should he be.

He worked extremely hard to be the type of athlete he was/is and he absolutely should be allowed to resume his football career.

We are a nation of second chances, if he walks the line, and if he’s doing the right things, let him play.

  6. What a gold mine signing Vick would be. You could have cat burning demonstrations before the game and baby shaking contests at halftime. The whole concept is outrageous. PETA is over the edge at least half the time but if Vick is on a team that comes to Denver I will be down there demonstating with them. May even come early and stay late. I don’t care how much jail time he has served. The dude has a malignant soul. That’s what I really think and I had to clean it up to comply with Drew’s rules.
