Thanks, Hawkins. It was a Real Blast!

Thank Goodness the Dan Hawkins error is over. Finally. It was ugly. It resembled intramural football. Or worse. It alienated fans, alumni and big dollar boosters. It lost money. Lots of it. But more than that it lost it’s integrity. On a Saturday afternoon when Hawkins seemed more interested in getting his son, Cody, closer to some stupid passing records than he was actually winning a game well in hand, he committed an unforgivable mistake. He put his own interests and those of his son above those of the football program he had promised to protect and preserve. He was content in this weekends loss to Kansas to throw the rest of the student athletes on his roster under the bus. In adversity, it is said, true character is revealed. Saturday the real Hawkins was exposed as a fraud whose only goal during his tenure as a head coach was to do everything he could to further his sons college football career at the expense of everyone and everything else. I’m just glad that someone at CU was finally wise enough to put an end to it all.

Last year we produced the first ever Drew Litton wall calendar. They sold very well and everyone seemed to like them. so the question begs would you buy another one this year if they were available? Please let me know.

Would you buy a 2011 Drew Litton cartoon wall calendar?

  1. Dear Mr. Litton,

Going into this weekend I was thinking,”Bronco’s aren’t playing! YEA!!!!! No embarrassment for one weekend. Then I get sucker punched by the C.U. Buffalo’s and their Bronco vs Raider impersonation.

Eddie Crowder must be spinning in his grave.

    All the best.

    Louis

  2. Good Morning from Omaha,

I honestly thought Hawkins could coach when he showed up in CO. BUT like kisla said Boise ST. did not miss a beat when he left.Evidently the asst. coaches were better at coaching than he is. Its a shame, but they have to do what they have to do. Results are the final crucible for coaches and to paraphrase raiders of the lost arc- the buffs “didn’t choose wisely”.

The dirty dozen ( pac 12) will not give the buffs a pass, but there are a lot of good coaches out there. Look at what Rhoades has done at Iowa State. Good luck to the buffs in there search.

Strive for excellence, nothing but your best.

  3. Maybe Pete Carrol is tired of the Seahawks and ready to get back into the PAC12, or whatever it is called now or soon.

  4. Dear Mr. Litton,

After I posted my original comments I went to work. There I had a thought. I don’t know if its a revelation or not but here it is.

What is the difference between the Dan/Cody Hawkins situation and almost any father/son situation in Little League baseball? I’ve seen too many fathers who seem to promote their own children over the rest of the team. Too many fathers would think their son was the next Nolan Ryan, or Hank Aaron. Did Dan Hawkins think his son was going to be the next John Elway?

The only real difference is that instead of about 15-20 kids being vs100 (about) players, staff, not to mention an entire university.

    All the best (again),

    Louis

  5. Do you think Pat Bowlen will jump on the firing the coach bandwagon? I hope so. Football in Colorado has been terrible for years. Not only with the Broncos going backwards but the Buffs not even coming close to making a bowl game let alone a winning season.

  6. Drew,

Put me down for 2 2011 calendars! I love my 2010 calendar! My Dad really got a bang out of his, too.

    Mike

P.S. Bye Hawkins, take McD with you, too.
