Friday At Last. Time for some Animation and the Caption Contest

Ahhhhh. Time to relax. It’s Friday. Opening Day. Caption Contest. Animation on 9News. We had a great caption contest last week with tons of great ideas. So, for those of you who have been wanting a Nuggets cartoon, I thought it might be fun if you write the caption. As always, there are 2 rules: Be Original and Keep ’em clean. The winner scores the original cartoon with their caption in the word balloon and a Fraternal Order of Pigskin T-shirt.

A Rockies Animation.

In honor of Opening Day, 9News will feature a special edition Rockies animated cartoon at 5 an 10 p.m right after Drew Soicher’s sports. ( I’ll let you know if the time changes). It was a blast to put together my first animation for KUSA. They’ve been so receptive to breaking new ground. I’m still getting used to the new medium (as well as a new newsroom) . I still want the animation to move a lot more, and that will come. But the cool part is, I can still get the joke told in limited animation regardless (kind of like the Hanna-Barbera cartoons some of us grew up with). Anyway, take a peek, and if you like it, please, let them know.

  1. Drew,

good luck tonight with your debut.

I wish I was out in Fort Collins so I could see your new project.

I know it’ll be super. Just like those Hanna-Barberra cartoons we used to watch.

Didn’t they include quick draw mcgraw, ricochette rabbit, I think Fred and barney were part

of their stable. I seem to remember SnagglePuss and his line with almost a lisp,”Exit..Stage Left”.

Didn’t they have a character in the Quick Draw cartoon who was a dog that when ever they gave him a doggie biscuit he hugged himself , and hugged himself and floated up in air going MMMMMM as he enjoyed the biscuit and then he always seemed to obey a command or whatever.

Heck I even remember touche’ turtle and Hardy Har Har. And I think at one time they even did the old george of the jungle cartoon with the memorable theme…George George george of the jungle, strong as he can be, george george george of the jungle friend to you and me!!!

this is a tough cartoon to fill in the blank. Maybe a good nights sleep will help the creative juices

    flow.

Once again, good luck with your animation on channel 9.

Have a great weekend. See you back here monday.

    Gene

  2. This is just a nightmare from the ghosts of playoffs past. Thank goodness for real time 2009.

  3. “Boy, and you thought Kyle Orton’s job was hard…”

Drew – I’m out of state, so I didn’t get to see the newscast with your animation. Is there anywhere online that will be hosting the ‘toons?

    Lovin’ ya from Oregon!

  4. “Hold on, Coach. There’s no Kobe or Ginobili in this years’ first round, and we’ll finally have home court!”

  5. Does this mean Josh McDaniels will be my coach next year if we don’t make it out of the first round?

  6. George, let go! If not, then one can only assume you enjoy being mellow during the offseason.
