A Salute to Those Who Serve

Drawn for the Guadalupe County Communicator

Here’s a salute to those who have served and are currently serving our country. My father served aboard the U.S.S. Pennsylvania during World War II as a gunners mate. I always think of the time when watching young adults enjoying an evening at a bar he told me ” I never had the chance to be young”. For those who gave us the best years of their youth, Thank you. Next time you see someone with a cap that tells you they are a veteran, go up and thank them for serving our country. It makes a difference in their lives because they have mad a difference in ours.

Thank you to all of our vets- no matter where, no matter when. you served us. a thank you is least you deserve.

  2. Autumn is my favorite season. I call it “a season of gratitude and thanksgiving” because of harvest, and the reminder of the bounty most of us are blessed to have. Today, my thanks and gratitude are for the men and women who have served and sacrificed for our country, as members of the Armed Forces. Your cartoon, Drew, reminds me of my dad. He is always wearing a cap, and I’m sure today, he is wearing one that reflects his own service during WWII. I wish I could give a huge hug to all of our veterans today, and personally thank them for the difference they have made. We wouldn’t enjoy the freedoms of democracy here in America, if it wasn’t for our Armed Forces – past and present. My heroes don’t wear capes. They wear dog tags.

    With gratitude,

    Peg

  3. Dear Drew,

    All the best
