After Months in the Vast Wilderness

Laker’s it is. Bring ’em on. Give ’em a taste of the Birdman and Billups (sounds like a sitcom doesn’t it?). Let Melo make mincemeat of ’em I say. Just get it going already.
No matter how much you are enjoying this Nuggets run I think everyone would agree with me that it takes too long to get to this point. An 8 month season followed by 4 months of playoffs. Or so it seems.
It should be a fun one. And, really I can’t complain. It gives me something other then the Rockies to draw about.
Friends
I spent some time over the weekend with some dear friends I have not seen in awhile. My neighbors before we moved were the greatest people in the world. Larry and Linda Kapke’s daughter, Laura, graduates next weekend and they had a party for her. Rick and Susie O’ Keefe, the folks who lived right next door me at the time, hosted the party. Tim and Catherine Kubik were there as well. These people are some of the dearest most loving people on the planet. It was great to see them again. If you haven’t seen or heard from an old friend, call them. Or better yet, go see them and give them a hug. It will do you both some good.
Follow Me
Good Morning from Omaha,
yes I am back, diet coke and all. I agree with you Drew. Graduation was wonderful if not a little long winded on Saturday afternoon. My son and his wife have both done the walk across the stage and gotten their parchment. Her parents are some of the greatest people I have met. We are lucky to know them and her brother and sister and their families.
The both earned a great education at CSU and yes it was worth every penny.
The NBA can’t end soon enough. Go Nuggets and put an end to Kobe at works season.
Strive for excellence, nothing but your best

“Give ‘em a taste of the Birdman and Billups (sounds like a sitcom doesn’t it?)”
Either that or a late 1970’s Cop Drama.
Drew,
Great toon. It hit a place near my heart, the NBA season is too darn long. Admittedly, basketball is not a sport I regularly follow. To me it seems like pro basketball is constantly being played with individual games having no significant meaning until playoff time.
With this poor attitude already in my mind, a few days ago what I saw shocked me. Driving by the Honda Center (where the Anaheim Ducks play), the outdoor diamond-vision screen was advertising tickets to the Lakers’ 2009 pre-season games to be played in the arena.
What the heck? The current season is not even close to over yet and the NBA is already pushing next season! Why bother having a championship? The message I got was that the NBA (interminable) playoffs and championship is not all that important since next season is right around the corner.
Phooey! I’m going outside to tell those darn kids to “get off my lawn,” and “slow down, this is a neighborhood!”
Mike
Nuggets vs Lakers. Thuggets vs Evil. Denver sports fans need this bad so for the love of god beat those purple jerks and birng on the King. Wait since last game is killing me, lets lite this candle!
Drew I do agree these playoffs are way too long. On the other hand seeing the Nuggets play this well is a wonderful Miracle in own right. The worse thing is not how long the playoffs are but having to watch them at 8:30 at night (which you did show in the first round) and seeing Sir Charles Barkly run his fat mouth. Even if he is giving props to our nuggets, which is scary. He just does not shut his trap. Glad the ride is this long with comming to an end with a championship for the nuggets. Now that sounds sweet doesn’t it WORLD CHAMPION DENVER NUGGETS. GO NUGGETS!!!!!
We have the Lombardi Trophy and the Stanley Cup so what the heck is the name of the NBA trophy? We will want to know what to call it when we get one… ☺
