  1. Dear Mr. Litton,

You are partially right about the USA warming up to soccer but that feeling will only last as long as Team USA is in the tournament then you’ll hear channels changing so fast it’ll make peoples head spin as they go,”World Cup? So what?”

  2. Good Morning from Omaha,

The world cup will go on whether I watch it or not. they don’t need my eyes on the tube for it to be a success.

the weather out here has been wonderful for 2 mile walks, bike rides and lemonaide on the deck.

Our TV died last year and we bought the new little big screen, and the vast wasteland that is tv during the summer is playing in someone else’s house.

Some people like the world cup and I keep pushing the college world series- did I mention that It starts this weekend? NOthing like going to the old ball game!!

I know the scores of the world cup games thanks to espn’s website and that is, in my opinion, all I need to know. wake when its football season again.

Wow, I sound like a schmuck that could work for BP and not have to deal with the small people.

STrive for excellence, nothing but your best.

  3. Good morning Drew –

hehehe… this is good, and I can’t wait to plast it on my FB wall. Rick Reilly also did a nice article on ESPN about the 10 most annoying things about world cup soccer that has me giggling as well.

Hope things are sunny and warm in Denver, we’re back to rain, cold & fog here in the northwest (yes, it’s June, and I have the heat on)

  4. As long as ESPN controls the rights to the World Cup, you’re going to get soccer the way its supposed to be shown – without commercial interruption. And when the commercials come at halftime, you’ll see it’s Addidas’ world and Nike’s just renting space there.

  5. Since almost 13 million people watched the US-England game – which tops the final game of the Stanley Cup (8.3 Million) and is nearly identical to the NBA Finals ratings, I’d say we are giving in. Not sure if the 2010 Cup Final will top the World Series like it did in 2006, but it’s looking like a better tournament.

The real catch is if MLS can capitalize on this, or if they’ll accept their place as a AA feeder league to the Euro circuits.

  6. Believe it or not, soccer has been accepted by the U.S., in terms of sports, culture, and corporate marketability. Soccer may not surpass football and baseball in terms of popularity (like everyone else wants it to), but it is here to stay.
