Bored Stiff

This one kind of sums up the NBA playoffs for me, especially this year. I guess I should be rooting for the Celtics-Lakers series to come through. I have several friends who are die hard Celtics fans. Yet I still feel lulled to sleep by it all. And to think…this is the warm-up for World Cup Soccer. Yikes!

The NBA is awful. I don’t know how it still has fans. I mean, if someone can’t figure out, just by watching, that the NBA uses its refs to shape the outcome of games, how can anyone possibly ignore the fact the Celtics and the Lakers comprise 41 percent (29 for the Lakers, 20 for the Celtics) of the 120 Finals participants, including 11 head-to-head match-ups in 60 Finals? And guess who’s going to be in it this year! And then there’s Jordan’s last season — both Indiana and Utah were better than the Bulls, but we all knew who would win the championship.
I could not agree more Drew!!!! Bored to tears. I would rather watch the world cup than keep watching all the NBA that is forced upon us by all the sports channels/media.
Someone at work asked me if I saw last night’s playoff game. My honest responses: “are the playoffs still going on?” and “who is in the playoffs”
Seems like the playoffs are incredibly lackluster this year.
Less than a month to USA v. England world cup match. Gonna be huge.
Wow, lots of NBA hate going on. Look, just cause the Nuggets choke like LeBron doesn’t mean the NBA sucks. The reason the Lakers and Celtics win is real simple: In a seven game series the best team wins. Period. The C’s and the Lakers have the beat teams talent wide in basketball right now. I personally enjoy watching the best teams play at a high level, it’s fun.
Drew!! That is so awesome!! I couldn’t agree more. I used to love the NBA growing up… But, now it’s just boring. I think it quit being cool in 2003.
Good Morning from Omaha,
truer word have never been spoken, Drew. If it weren’t me occasionally catching sports center I wouldn’t have any idea they are still play b ball.
I guess I am not the sports fan I thought I was. The basketball season should have ended by now, but they have built in “rest”periods where there are no games and with the nice weather, people tend to be outside dong anything than inside watching b ball. the NBA is getting be like hockey in my little mind. It almost doesn’t exist. Pretty soon you will have to search the digital cable channels if you want to see the NBA. There will come a time when even espn will not show it, and they will show anything pertaining to sports.
I remember the first time I saw espn and they were showing table tennis with china. That was back almost 30 years ago. and yes I am advancing in the years.
Keep up the great work drew. This one is worth at leasat a thousand words.
Strive for excellence, nothing but your best.

NBA jumped the shark when NBC lost it’s rights to ABC (ergo John Tesh), and of course Jordan’s retirement. Right now, I think C-SPAN and RFD-TV can provide more quality entertainment…..
That’s why I watch the WNBA. You really don’t know who’s going to make the finals.
In a related story, Sherwin Williams won a paint drying contest.
Good evening from Alaska,
At least the America’s Cup is back in the states and we can look forward to some exciting court action. 🙂
My only interest in the NBA playoffs is the ferverent hope that the Lakers will loose. As a side note, Kobe Bryant running away from home and never being heard from again would also pique my curiosity.
