Buffalowed

Screwed. There really isn’t any other word for it, so here it is. The way the whole state of Colorado feels this afternoon, especially if you wear black and gold. I mean how many times do you have to beat K State in a single season to get the bid over them. So here it is for all of the fans who feel slighted. It might save a $100 on a therapist so pass it along to folks. One of the great things about the web vs. print is the immediacy of getting the content up as soon as possible. That and I’m not sure the imagery here would have gotten past my editors. I’m drawing for ESPN.com as well so stay tooned.

  1. GMFO-

what was the teams final record? I know that they beat KSU 3 times in one season and did well across the board but there are so many automatic qualifiers that the odds were against them. Yes I would have liked to see them get in but with KU, MU, KSU, TX and Texas A&M getting in to get another team into the dance would have been tough. Yes there are 10 or 11 Beg East teams, thats not a mis-spelling, and some of the other teams that rode the bubble in to the tournament are jokes. CU will be back if they can build around Burks!

Go get’ em Bears!!- they drew San Diego State. Now thats a big hill to climb but if they play as a team who knows what can happen.

Strive for excellence, nothing but your best.

  2. To everybody,

If you want to know my feelings read my postings in the last cartoon. I am still angry, too upset to talk coherantly or without using a series of curse words.

The only difference between the cartoon and how I feel right now is the screw would be going in the opposite direction. Not only that but the entry point would start in the shorts because that is where I feel the NCAA shafted us.

All the best (except to the Neanderthal’s who ran the selection committee)

  3. Not only do you have to beat Kansas State but you have to beat the Big 12 Commisioner on the selection committee as well.

  4. Your toon from last week should have set everyone up for this Drew, when 11 teams come from one conference there has to be somewhere that it is made up. Your employer helped push the idea into peoples heads a month ago and the “committee” bought into it.

  5. One picture worth a thousand words. Sad part was the NCAA commissioner couldn’t explain it, just a bunch of excuses that didn’t make any sense. Is he running for a political job?????

  6. The 3 greatest falacies of all time

    #1: The earth is flat

#2: The sun revolves around the earth.

#3: The (bleep, bleep) NCAA selection committee knows what the (bleep) they are doing.

(Yes, still angry 24 hours later. )

    All the best

  7. First, the losses to CU shouldn’t keep K-State out. They earned a spot. IMHO, CU did as well.

Second, Beebe was not allowed to be in discussions about CU. By committee rule, those associated with a team under discussion must excuse themselves from the room.

Finally, if CU wants to be taken seriously in basketball, they need to schedule some non-conference games vs teams with a pulse. That is what killed them.

  8. Dear Drew,

All right. After 4 hours in my dialysis chair I think I can finally talk coherantly, without any cussing and my objections to the way the NCAA is formed. This is my #1 beef among them. Teams that don’t even win half of their conference games can get in. This is especially true this year in the Big East. They should have some sort of qualifying rule like they do in football. Only for basketball no team can be selected as an at large if they fail to win 50% of their conference games (tournament games not included). That would end the Big East 11 teams qualifying fiasco. It would give more mid and low major teams a chance to get in giving perhaps more chances for a cinderella to emerge. It would also allow teams like C.U. a true chance to show what they could have done this year.

I now promise to get off this subject for the time being.

    All the best

    Louis
