   Magic Johnson as a cross between a lifeguard and Mighty Mouse?! I’m still chuckling as I type. And now I have a classic cartoon theme running thru my head.

   A welcome respite from the Broncos drama. True, it’s a huge story, but we have yet to see how things are going to play out in the next few months. I’m willing to sit back now and see what develops. Then I can rant or rave about the results.

   I do admit that I might be following the Jets with a bit of interest this fall, though…

2. One of the common themes of your cartoons is people who don’t deserve it getting of fighting over money. Normally, I metaphorically role my eyes and figure there’s not much we can do about it, but this case really hurts me, as a Los Angelino.

   Frank McCourt is getting rewarded $2 bil for his poor management of the team, after he paid <$500 mil for the team originally. Not only that, but it looks like he's going to have 50% of the parking lots, the profit from which should keep living comfortably for the rest of his life without even having to dig into his $2 bil, except to pay off his hundreds of millions of dollars of debt.

   That said, I'm glad to have Magic in. I heard someone say recently he should be called Midas, because everything he touches turns to gold.

   I heard a financial analyst say on ESPN that the dodgers are a big money loser. they have lost a lot of market share to the Angels, the stadium needs about 150 m in upgrades and that in general the team is a financial bust.

   the guy went on to say that if the Dodgers are worth 2 billion, then the Yankees are worth 5.7 billion and the cowboys and Jerry Jones are worth almost 7 billion.

   Makes you wonder what the rockies and the royals even with their poor performance are worth?

   I guess people have to have a hobby. Most people who own sports franchises consider it a hobby, but to the participants its a business. Thats where the lines get crossed.

   I wish magic and his group of investors the best. They used to say a fool and his money are soon parted. That sounds almost prophetic in this case.
