I drew this for the Chicago Tribune. I thought it needed to be said. It’s time to move on.

Have a great weekend!

  1. Agree Drew. Rarely have I seen such class demonstrated by both sides of a sporting “mistake.” Galaraga has been extremely gracious and will go down in history as the guy who demonstrated the best of sportsmanship; endearing himself in the hearts of sports fans (plus he got a new Vette out of the deal). He could have handled things much differently.

As far as Joyce goes, he did what he should have done. He recognized his mistake and apologized; a lot. There is definite remorse here and nothing he can do to change it.

Selig shouldn’t overturn it; a mistake was made and the results final. What basis would this establish for future examples of overturning a mistake? The results were unfortunate, but he has no business changing the record books.

Hopefully, this will lead to improvements in the game and perhaps, years down the road, if instant replay in baseball leads to many correct calls down the road in games that matter, this event will be viewed as benefit to baseball.
