I love drawing for the Boulder Daily Camera. Depicting Ralphie and various college mascots in assorted ways, some kind some not so kind, is really better than therapy. Throw in Halloween, which is a VERY BIG DEAL in Boulder and I have the makings of a fun day in the play pen. I thought I’d include on of the roughs that we didn’t use, because, well, I think it’s funny. University Dean of Students Christina Gonzales released a list of insensitive Halloween costumes students should avoid out of political correctness. So I had to weigh in on that even if we went with the more interesting and funnier final cartoon.

  1. Regarding the “list of insensitive Halloween costumes” (this I guess is really aimed at Christina Gonzales), what could possibly be wrong with dressing up as a COWBOY for Halloween (if you wanted to)? The other costumes on the list I can understand, but COWBOY?!?!?

  2. (continued from previous comment)…..I suppose someday, give it time, we’ll have to be careful not to offend “Judges”, “Bankers”, “Lawyers”, “College Graduates (with a Mortarboard)”, “Teamsters”, “Military Officers”, “Auto Mechanics”, “Nurses”, “Doctors”, “Clowns”, “Ballet Dancers”, (oh, let’s see, who else? — Oh, heck, I don’t have any more time for this….) – not to offend THESE people by dressing up as them….

Again, I understand the spirit of the advice, but it’s beginning to go a bit too far…
