   On a similar note, this also comes on the heels of Robbie Rogers’ similar announcement and concurrent retirement from soccer at the young age of 25. Rogers received nearly unanimous positive feedback.

   There is one key difference between Collins and Jackie Robinson, however – Jackie couldn’t hide his race when he joined the Dodgers. Collins was hiding who he was for his entire career.

   Regardless you personal views of Collins’ personal lifestyle, he is now being honest and free with who he is – always a positive development. Keeping a secret like this is a heavy burden, and one that he can now shed.
