  1. It is an interesting thing, this time of year and bad behavior and judgement by NFL players. Maybe they should just be required to do many hours of community service this time of year. Between the hours of midnight and 6AM.

  2. Can’t go wrong with a headline ripped from a Bobby Fuller Four hit!

  3. Good Morning from Omaha ( or this morning I am in Fairfield, CA)

I heard a guy on ESPN blame this recent spate of arrests on supposed boredom on the part of players. they have way too much time on their hands during the off season and way too much money according to this ESPN talker and that leads to trouble.

Back in the day, and yes I am dating myself again, football was a part time job. From what I remember, you played football during the football season and during the rest of the year you worked at something else. Some were bankers, some had beer distributorships but the point is during the off season the players had to work to live.

In this era of really inflated salaries the team owns the players. they have work outs, OTA’s and the like but evidently not enough to keep these young stars busy.

that, and the immaturity of the players involved in this mess. they are being payed adult size money and they can cause adult size problems. most of the players involved in this off season crime wave are just a few years out of college and have not yet figured out that the number on the uniform can be replaced really quick with a number issued by the county or state. Then they become just like Julie junkie, Bobbie BAd guy or Collin the coke head and get left behind in the wake of society moving forward.

Strive for excellence, nothing but your best.

  4. Excellent comment, Gene. It also doesn’t help that NCAA rules basically forbid athletes from working away from school part-time…which gives them even less experience away from the sport.

People say that these athletes “just play a game”. Semantically, this is true; but when when you prepare, train, and perform any task constantly for decades against brutal competition to earn a living (if you make it to the top level), then it doesn’t matter how fun it may seem or actually be – at that point, it’s a job.
