Peyton’s Place

I suppose it’s debatable but Peyton Manning has been the NFL’s best quarterback for some time now. The recent news that Manning’s neck injury is slow to heal is cause for concern for Colts fans everywhere. Here’s hoping we haven’t seen the last of an NFL great.

  1. Good Morning from Omaha,

If Peyton is not the best quarterback in this generation of qb’s he is in the top 5. they better let him heal or they will lose his services for a longer period of time. while they are thin, and that is an understatement, at qb the colts can win when he gets back with the players they have. One or two losses is not going to sink their season in Indianapolis. Peyton is a very smart player and will not rush back. Hopefully the colts won’t panic and put the screws to him about getting back into the game.

Peyton still has a life after football to look forward too. Its up to colts to be pro active and start angling to get another quarterback because Manning is not going to play forever.

Strive for excellence, nothing but your best.

PS healing nicely after having a stent placed in my LAD of my heart. Went out for a walk yesterday and enjoyed the beautiful weather.

  2. When I read of Peyton Manning’s neck injury, I immediately thought of Sterling Sharpe, and how his NFL playing career was cut short due to a neck injury. The Colts need to take things as they come with Peyton’s injury and subsequent healing process. In the article I read, I think on Yahoo! Sports, it spoke of how the lockout kept Peyton away from the trainers and docs who know him best. I certainly hope that it didn’t keep Peyton from searching for the “best of the best” in medicine, to treat his injury. I get that there is a sense of comfort and reassurance, in being treated by the same doc every time. However, there are a great deal of very capable ortho and neuro docs out there, who’ve got the skills and knowledge necessary to treat Peyton. I pray he heals soon, and that the Colts don’t make any rush-to-judgement, kind-of decisions regarding his future.

@ Gene: I’m glad to read that you are healing well. Continued prayers comin’ your way.

  3. To Gene–

Glad to hear that you are on the mend and out of hospital.

    Drew–

Neck and spinal injuries scare the daylights out of me. So many things can go wrong. Hope that Peyton Manning doesn’t get rushed into making a bad decision just for the sake of $$$.

PS. I always get a kick out of your cartoons with a horse in them.

  4. I really think the colts rode too long on Peyton’s back (and neck). He is a great quarterback. Maybe one of the best ever. He is getting older and this is one serious injury to take. It didn’t help matters when the lockout prevented Peyton to work with the team doctors. For me I don’t want to see any player go out with injury. This one might open that AFC South Division Door wide open for the three other teams. Also it might open a door to another door to the playoffs if Peyton stays out to long to get 100% healthy. Nice to see you Gene back in the saddle. Take it easy and watch some NFL Football all weekend long. AS ALWAYS GO BRONCOS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
