In a New York Minute,

everything can change,

In a New York minute,

Life can get a little strange.

-Don Henley-

Choices

We all have choices. With one wrong decision our lives can change in an instant. The lives of those around us can be altered in a heartbeat. Get behind the wheel of a car after too many drinks. Carry a handgun. Take your eyes off the road to text or change the dial on the CD player. One instant, and everything is over.

These kinds of cartoons are hard for me to draw. Not everything I do is intended to be funny. But when the topic turns serious I feel it is my calling in life to point out the teachable moment in it all. I’m sad for Plaxico Burress. I’m sadder for his little girl, without her father for two years. Nobody wins. Nobody.

  1. good morning from Omaha,

the choices we make, the consequences that result. he blew an opportunity with the giants.

maybe he will get the michael vick chance after he get out. I think he will be 34 and should be able to play some where. If he gets his head on straight again, like it was in Pittsburgh, he could be a good 3rd or 4th receiver for someone.

Poignant cartoon. right to the point.

strive for excellence, nothing but your best.

  2. Jail is not where anyone wants to be, infact NEVER! I do feel for Burress and hope that he can make a change within himself on the inside. Alot can change in two years at home or anyone that has contact with you. It is a disturbing thought to be away from your family and freinds when you know you dont have to be locked up for a stupid mistake.

  3. Wow, you brought a tear to my eye, previously I was simply disgusted with him. It’s so true – a single minute, single bad choice, and everything can change. Thinking twice is really a good thing. I think when you’re on top of the world, athletes feel invincible, like nothing can touch them. Bad choices touch everyone.

  4. Drew you always seem to touch me in some way be it funny or serious with your work. I hope that he comes out of prison a better man and a more mature adult. Hopefully this will be a lesson for all athletes out there.
