Another very busy week working with my pals Rich Moyer and Mike Kaminski on another ESPN Monday Night Madness animation. This one is hilarious (barring any unforeseen changes) and will be a must see for everyone. I’ll let you know when it posts. I thought this Josh cartoon was a fun one going into the weekend. This one pretty much sums up my feelings for all things Broncos. Have a great Saturday and Sunday!

  1. good Morning from Omaha,

yes Josh has made some mistakes. yes he is young and it sometimes appears that his “plan” is going down the wrong trail. If Pat did’ believe in him that would different. Pats paying his bills with checks every now and then, weekly bi weekly , whatever. If he can be patient with him, as he as invested the future of HIS team and his money in him, as fans about all we can do is either B-itch or just go along for the ride.we have the right to do both.

Just remember its really easy to coach from the couch.

Strive for excellence, nothing but your best.

  2. McDaniels is young for a head coach, but so was Mike Tomlin who was a whopping 36 when he won a Super Bowl 2 years ago, which is only 2 years older than McDaniels is now.

I would rather have McDaniels than Shanahan right now. McDaniels has done a lot to reach out to the community, former players (ie John Elway with whom Shanahan had a falling out with) and other Denver sports franchises (George Karl). He’s a good family man, and he’s outgoing and approachable with the fans. Shanahan wasn’t a bad guy, but he kept to himself and his entourage while he ran amok in the Broncos’ organization. He couldn’t get along with many of his players, made some bad personnel decisions that cost the Broncos millions (Daryl Gardner, Dale Carter, Ashley Lelie, Javon Walker, etc.) and couldn’t get along with his defensive coordinators because he was a severe control freak. Pat Bowlen would be the first to tell you that, it’s why he was fired.

I feel the jokes about how “young” McDaniels is is going below the belt and a bit stale over the last couple of years. He’s been coaching in the NFL for nearly a decade and has coaching in his blood. His philosophies and strategies are different, and they needed to be. As a Broncos fan, I didn’t want more the same from Shanahan.

It’s amazing to think that only 2 years ago, people were calling for Shanahan’s head on a platter, and now they feel the team is doomed because we *might* have a losing season or two, as McDaniels cleans up his mess. Did you really want a bunch of 8-8 seasons with Shanahan for the next several years or a losing season or two to get back on track? You can’t have your cake and eat it too in this case.

Denver has been one of the winningest teams in the NFL for the last 30 years. As a result, the fans have been spoiled with high expectations. Imagine if this were Detroit or Tampa Bay?
