The Ax falls in Minnesota (don’t we wish it were Denver)

Uncategorized

So, see coaches can be fired mid way through the season and if Mr. Bowlen were interested I’m sure Wade and Brad here could use some extra help during the holidays.

The Broncos were, again, just awful on Monday night against the Chargers. It makes you wonder just how long the Broncos organization is going to give McDaniels before they pull the plug.

Just so you know, I have a special Thanksgiving/Broncos cartoon planned and one as well for this weeks CU-Nebraska game . I’m planning to take off Thanksgiving day to spend with my family but I’ll have a cartoon up for the holiday if you’re around a computer or on your cell phone. Feel free to leave your comments about the Broncos loss or the Chargers win. Or McDaniels future…or lack thereof.

  1. Dear Mr. Litton,

I don’t know what caused me greater pain yesterday. The double root canal for my teeth (yes, I said a DOUBLE root canal), the cramps I had in my lower legs/calves at the end of my dialysis, or watching the Bronco’s game monday day night (which was during the dialysis which might have been the reason I cramped in the first place).

As I mentioned after the K.C. game last week I wasn’t niave enough to jump on the Bronco’s bandwagon yet. Drew this is my mental image of what the Bronco’s are going through and I hope I describe it well enough for you see this vision. Imagine Josh McDaniels pulling a covered wagon that say’s “Bronco’s” on it. The direction he’s pulling the wagon in leads towards the land of “Oblivion”. In the opposite direction the road leads to the land of “Super Bowl Champions”. Josh McDaniels in this mental cartoon is seen saying,”I’m running this team my way.”

I hope the image is clear enough for how I see this team going under Josh McDaniels. Makes me wish for the days of Wade Phillips. Maybe we could (and I’m being stone cold serious here) hire him even if it was just for the rest of the season.

I’ll get off my soapbox now.

    All the best

  2. Dear Mr. Litton (again),

I almost forgot to add. With thanksgiving approaching maybe you could reprint what I thought was a special thanksgiving cartoon. It was a 2 panel shot. In one it shows a football player and how much he eats on thanksgiving. In the other panel it shows a skin and bones man said “This man hasn’t eaten in weeks” then underneath it say’s “Who will YOU be thinking of today.”

On several fronts I think that was an important cartoon and worth seeing again.

    Thank you very much

    All the best (again),

    Louis

  3. Good Morning from Omaha,

I caught a little of the game last night- the chargers have caught fire, like they always do after the first third of the season. Its like they don’t get it together during the preseason. Yes they have players that are on the verge of having great careers- and being major league A holes.

The good news is that the Chiefs get to go out there in December as a bit of a holiday. That could be a great game if the chiefs play like they are capable.

I read Kisla and Krieger this morning. They make some good points about little Mickey D and his lack of judgement when it comes to players- hillis as just an example- he needed someone to block- it all starts up front on both sides of the ball.as easy as it seems it boils down to the big uglies up front!

Be kind to the Huskers- their coach had a psychotic incident on the sidelines saturday night and has received his treatment from DR’s Perlman and Osborne. If the Buffaloes come out wearing surgical gloves Ben cotton better watch out during the dog piles to recover those inevitable fumbles!!!!

Strive for excellence, nothing but your best.

  4. McDaniels is part of the mix…but the defense is AGED… No pass rush puts tremendous pressure on the LBs and DBs. It was also clear that the Broncos team speed at the second level is lacking. Poor tacking and HUGE HOLES to run through…

I actually LIKE where McD is taking the team…but it is painful to watch. Sadly this will come with experience and in this case is at the expense of the Broncos…

  5. I agree that Josh McDaniels needs to go. I think he probably is very smart and understands how to draw up good game plans. BUT he is very egotistical and will never admit when he is wrong. Everyone said that Tim Tebow was not an NFL quarterback. Josh, however, thought that HE could turn Tebow into an NFL quarterback. And now his ego won’t let him admit he made another mistake. The Broncos aren’t going anywhere this season, start letting the younger guys get experience in the game. Let Josh show us that Tebow was not a mistake. The problem for Josh is as soon as Pat Bowlen sees that Tebow was yet another Josh mistake, then maybe Bowlen will care enough about the Broncos and FIRE JOSH MCDANIELS!

  6. Only watched the game in bits and pieces last night. From the final score, it looks like I didn’t miss much.

Hate to say it but the worst thing the Broncos could do is fire McDaniels right now. Both the Cowboys and Vikings had in-house candidates who could step into the HC right away and provide an answer for next year. Broncos don’t have that. Now if Nolan was on the staff…..that’s a different scenario.

Next year doesn’t look much better. Suppose the Bowlen blows it up and fires Joshie-boy. Then what? After March 1, there will be a lockout. Last report I saw said mid-summer was the best estimate deadline to getting a deal done. That means the new coach, who will want a new offense and probably a new defense, will have to install new schemes on both sides of the ball in 2 months. Which means another long losing season. Oh and Bowlen will be paying 3 coaches next year while the team continues to struggle.

Here’s what Bowlen needs to do

    (1) Fire Ellis and Xanders. Someone will have to take the fall for this season’s disaster start cleaning up the mess Ellis made by getting rid of him and Xanders is just a puppet for Josh.

    (2) Hire a GM. And I mean a *real* GM not a rubber stamp. Give this new guy a year to evaluate the team top to bottom that includes McDaniels. Is Parcell’s interested in another go-around? Give him a call.

  7. UGH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!Disgusting!!

  8. Thank god DWTS was on last night. Even watching Bristol Palin’s free style was less painful. Is it 2011 yet?

  9. In the production floor here at the San Antonio Express-News, we have two TVs. One was tuned to the Broncos-Chargers, the second was being flipped back and forth between the Spurs-Magic and pro wrestling. Being the resident Broncos fan, the sports guys were kind enough to let me watch the Broncos. In the third quarter, I told them that they could have the TV back to watch the hometown Spurs (who won and are 12-1 to start the season) and pro wrestling. I went back to my desk and monitored the score on NFL.com.

Bowlen can’t afford to fire McDaniels. But maybe that Raiders guy could slap McDaniels upside the head.
