Speaking of Retirements…

Uncategorized

I couldn’t resist this fun poke at Brett Favre. It had to be done. As training camp opens I’ll be drawing you some updates from around the league. That’s always a lot of fun. From the mess in Cincinnati to the daily Tebow watch. Oh it’s good to be back at the drawing board.

  1. Good Morning from Omaha,

I guess its time to date myself again….not only do I remember the opening of Riverfront stadium in cincinnati back in the early 70’s, 1971, and people derriding Lou Pinella as sweet louie etc etc etc. Now Riverfront has been replaced. Had it really been over thirty years since the place opened and now its gone. and so is Lou, after this season. I don’t really care if Lou retired, but it bothered me that they replaced a perfectly good, but really ugly stadium, after only 30 years. Thirty years have gone by in what seems to be a blink of an eye. I know I have been busy living, raising a family etc but come one, it can’t be thirty years, already.

  2. Nice jab on Brett Favrve. Farve has had more comebacks than a professional boxer.

Now I know you were at the comic-con recently but I have to admit I’ve been surprised you haven’t done a cartoon on Jack Tatum who died this week. I kept having this image of a cartoon of Tatum in heaven with Darryl Stingley who is no longer in a wheelchair greeting him at the gates of heaven.

  3. When Brett Favre retires, can he take Hank Williams, Jr. with him, so I can watch Monday Night Football in peace?

  4. Gene,

Amazing how time flies isn’t it? And when we were kids waiting for Christmas seemed like an eternity.

  5. Louis,

I actually never considered doing a Jack Tatum cartoon. But your idea is a great one.

  6. George,

Oh, we could have a million of those couldn’t we. Take T.O. with you or take Tiger with you…Fill in the blank basically.

  7. I vote for Jim Rome. Maybe sports radio would get sane, more like Dan Patrick. Very funny!

  8. GMFO,

christmas couldn’t come soon enough. we would raid the closets, look under beds and all around the furnace room looking for whatever it was santa would bring. Toward the end we only wanted “MORE”. It was a different time in a far off place that only your parents and their parents knew of, until it was your turn to go down the tunnel of life.

  9. Gene,

My memories of Christmas get more cloudy each day. But one toy memory remains. Major Matt Mason. Space Station. Space Crawler. I even canvas ebay thinking about buying one again, why I have no idea.

  10. After last night’s Rockies game, I’m sure this would make it a lot easier for Lou Piniella to retire. Maybe that’s what Brett Favre needs: a blow out game to force his retirement. 🙂

  11. That 8th inning last night was something. I couldn’t believe it. Had to call a friend to verify it was not some dream. Pity the Rox can’t find the consistency.
