And So It Goes

Plop goes the Rockies. Just like that they find themselves down and out. What a difference a road trip makes. What exactly happens during the all-Star break I’ve no idea but needless to say this team just isn’t the same one before the break. Can they climb their way back? You tell me!

  1. Good Morning from Omaha,

that is a good question, drew. the slayoR got hot just before the break and have now lost 13 of 15.

I don’t know if it is the break in the routine, going home and spending time with the wife an kids, or just relaxing too much and sleeping in their own beds, but something changes.

The thing is the good teams don’t seemingly have that problem. Maybe its the chemistry being disturbed or jealousy that only one player from your team got to go to the game and it wasn’t you.

    its just hard to figure.

Strive for excellence, nothing but your best.

  2. Most towns have a team they hold above all else: e.g. real Los Angelenos – the teachers, gardners, cops and cooks – have a Lakers jersey in their wardrobe instead of a Dodgers cap or Kings sweater, and in spite of the presence of four pro teams, including the All-Powerful Red Wings, Detroit folks prefer Wolverine football. Three years in Denver convinced me that Coloradans would drive the Rockies, Nuggets, Avs, Rapids, Mammoth, Buffs and Rams to the DIA terminal if it would get the Broncos a win.

  3. Badger,

I’m not sure it’s quite that intense in Colorado but clearly the Broncos are the top dog in town. Always have been, always will be.

  4. Though I always enjoy your work, I feel insulted as a die hard Rockies fan. I will keep on wearing my Rockies jersey with pride. *sigh*

  5. Good Cartoon Drew,

Maybe a day late but I think Rockies have been “a day late”…

Baseball is a funny game it seems like it goes in cycles for the Rocko’s. They usually struggle after the break and then get it going after the trade deadline has passed. Maybe they are a bit nervous about being moved. Who knows but we have hope they can get it rolling and maybe even go on one of those 21 out 23 game win streaks. I thought we may get it turned around against the Pirates (wost team in baseball) but looks like I have to hope Ubaldo gets his grove back today.

Hopefully I didn’t jinx them with my last post about having a better second half.
