Bozos On Board

Why someone pays millions and millions of dollars for the rights to the Olympics and then screws it up so bad is beyond me. Preempting the closing ceremonies was the straw that broke the bozos backs. I’m hoping NBC sees the light and makes some changes at the top of their food chain. Heck if I were an advertiser I would be demanding a refund for the lousy job they did on these games. Some decisions at the corporate levels of companies just make no sense. Actually I take that back. All decisions at the corporate levels of companies just make no sense. So, for me, NBC can stand for Now Boycotting Crummy Coverage!

  1. This years coverage was horrible, What I have always wondered, is who makes the decision that one sport is more important than another one, like why did we have to watch Gymnastics instead of watching Norway Women’ Field Hockey Team?

The real thing that bothers me is the interviews with the athletes after the event: How do you feel? I won how do you think I feel – What were you thinking while you were winning? Don’t Blow it I am winning!! Seriously they could ask a lot of better questions.

  2. I’m with Howard… the coverage, especially in the second week, stunk. Why were sporting events preempted for puff pieces on London tourist attractions and/or athlete interviews? I KNOW these folks, Olympians, are amazing. How about giving them the international stage they have toiled for?

  3. What also really bothered me was the exclusivity on the broadcast over the internet. I ended my relationship with Dish/Cable a year ago. 4 years ago, I streamed all of the events live, in their entirety or on-demand on NBCOlympics.com for FREE! This time around I was severely disappointed to see Comcast put their money loving grip on their ownership of NBC and restrict it to cable/dish customers ONLY!

As far as the broadcast was concerned, I would have loved to have seen a much wider variety of games broadcast in prime time other than the usual swimming, diving, gymnastics and some track and field. I think that’s 90% of the reason why men’s basketball did so poorly in the ratings.

  4. Good Morning from Omaha,

what a fast 2 weeks. My wife could not get enough of the games. She enjoyed the last two weeks before schools starts watching them. I guess I really did not watch the games with a critical eye. I enjoyed the sport for the sport it is. As she says , knowing who won took the pressure off the enjoyment of the games.

I really wanted to see the Olympic marathon and some of the closing of the games highlights but as things work out we had much better things planned for us including a wedding and reception that was really fantastic. I missed the pre emption of the closing ceremonies entirely.

Overall I thought NBC did a good job covering the Olympics. Could they have done better. Yes there is always room for improvement but they have 4 years to figure it out again.

Strive for excellence, nothing but your best.

  5. I’m in agreement – I know that NBC is an American network, but editing the closing ceremonies to “appeal to American Audiences”? Trust me, I don’t know many people who would let their patriotism force them to turn off The Kinks. And cutting out the Opening Ceremony’s salute to the National Health Service smacked of political correctness.

Mexico won gold in soccer by knocking off Brazil, Usain Bolt asserted himself as an all-time Olympic hero, and there were some great performances in many sports – but we never saw their medal ceremonies – Did NBC think it would offend their viewers to hear another national anthem?

  6. NBC will have NO excuses for taped coverage in 2016 – Rio de Jainero is only a hour ahead of New York

  7. NBC Sports – Unless its Notre Dame football, its not live. All the more reason to put the Olympics on ABC and ESPN, they know the meaning of the word LIVE (especially to the West Coast).
