For George: Stay Strong

The Nuggets road trip they are on this week will be a tough one. But not nearly as difficult as the path Coach George Karl is on. This one is for him and for the thousands of Nuggets fans who are cheering him on in his battle against cancer. It would be so amazing if some local company made up 10,000 of these bands and handed them out to the fans and players to wear in support of George when he next returns to the home court. They might have to be Nuggets blue (I’m sure Lance Armstrong has the color yellow trademarked) but they might just be a fitting tribute to an incredible man. I highly recommend this Rick Reilly column on ESPN.com. It gives us insight into all that George is courageously fighting.

A Note

I’ve been against putting up a captcha form so that you can leave comments. They can be a pain. Yet lately I’m getting a tremendous amount of spam coming into the comments area. I have one more thing I want to try first before I resort to applying some kind of simple sign in thing. Just wanted you to know in case, as a last resort, I have to do it.

  1. Thank you for this cartoon! This is what I’ve been missing in our Denver paper. So glad that you are willing to put your cartoons on the Internet. Thanks, Drew!

“Stay Strong” George Karl. We miss you. Get well soon!

  2. Good Morning from Omaha,

  3. Drew,

Thanks for helping us remember that it is more than just winning or losing, but how and why you play.

Coach Karl, Stay strong, our prayers are with you.

  4. Brilliant. Please remember, fans, to send a small contribution to the American Cancer Society in honor of George and all other cancer sufferers and survivors.

  5. Keep on with the positive thoughts and strength, Mr. Karl. Rick Reilly’s column was very sensitive as is running this again.
