Lombardi goes Home

And so it goes…Lombardi goes home. where it belongs.

I’ve done a whole sketchbook (from the Steelers viewpoint) that will appear on ESPN.com sometime this Monday morning and I’ll add it here at 9:00 am MST. so be sure to check back. It’s a hoot.

  1. Good Morning from Omaha,

It was really an enjoyable game to watch. Pittsburgh had 3 turnovers and they led to scores for the Packers. a bounce here and there is all it took to determine the games outcome. loved the passat commercial, budwiesers commercials were not up to their standards, some of the dorito’s commercials were yucky ( thumb sucking, pant sniffing) the commercial for the italian beer was just a mess and did you notice during the commercial for careerbuilder that the cars all had Nebraska plates? what does that say about the huskers ability to drive anything but a football field!

I thought the richard lewis/roseanne barr snickers commercial was funny but what do I know.

There is going to be a big parade in title town on tuesday. somewhere Vince Lombardi is smiling!

Strive for excellence, nothing but your best.

    Gene

  2. Drew,

I love the emotions this ‘toon evokes from history and what we saw yesterday. Congrats on drawing what will likely be another of your “all time best.”

    Mike

  3. Dear Drew,

I guess you could say that Pittsburgh “turnovered” the Lombardi Trophy to Green Bay (feel free to groan here. I admit I’m stretching this joke possibly to the breaking point.

For the ads “Mini Darth Vader” was my favorite commercial followed by the old TV shows wearing NFL jersey’s though the Fonz wearing that foam rubber finger almost caused me to throw up my stuffed mushrooms.

Biggest disappointment to me (besides the Steelers losing) was the halftime show. I had never heard the Black Eye Pea’s perform before and God willing I never will hear them ever again.

    All the best

    Louis

  4. Vince Lombardi once said: “Once a man has made a commitment to a way of life, he puts the greatest strength in the world behind him. It’s something we call heart power. Once a man has made this commitment, nothing will stop him short of success.”

For all of the injuries and adversities the Packers experienced throughout the season, and in yesterday’s game, no one can deny that the Packers have incredible heart power. They did not allow their adversity to get in the way of their (and every football team’s) goal of winning the Lombardi Trophy at the end of the season.

Your cartoon, Drew, made me think of a son bringing his father a report card filled with A+’s…the pride of the son, showing his father the effort of all his hard work; and the pride of the father in his son, for a job well-done.

Aaron Rodgers, Mike McCarthy, and the entire Packer team, handed in their report card last night. There is no doubt in my mind that Vince Lombardi is smiling down on Titletown with a grin from ear-to-ear. I’m sure his family is smiling, too. The Lombardi legacy continues.
