NFL Playoffs: The True Story

Uncategorized

So much for the “BIG” match-up of Aaron Rodgers vs. Drew Brees. The NFL is crazy that way. You can never count on anything to happen the way you think it will. That said, after seeing this weekends games I feel like no one will be able to beat the Patriots. Their tandem of tight ends is unreal. If the NFL is looking to outlaw something next year they can start with Rob Gronkowski. I’ve never seen a tight end that has the intangibles that he has. The guy should be illegal.

So the Broncos are done for this year, but there are tons of questions that need answers going forward. But there is a lot of time to deal with those. I personally just want to reminisce over the great season it has been. The NFL network had a terrific Tebow-in-review piece that played over the weekend. Great stuff if you can catch it playing again.

I want to thank everyone who offered some feedback on the site. So you can see I made yet another change here, bringing back the scrolling through cartoons from top to bottom and obviously a color change. Sometimes I just need to mix it up a bit. If you like it let me know. If not please do the same. There’s a pretty good chance I will add a permanent slider at the top of the blog so you can scroll through 10 or 12 of the most recent cartoons. But I need to play with that a bit first before I add it. Thanks again for your input.

  1. This was the matchup I was looking forward to in the playoffs. We didn’t even get halfway to this point. I already have grudges against New York and San Francisco because of their Super Bowl wins over the Broncos; and against the Patriots because of Belichik and McDaniels. So I guess I’m going to root for the Ravens this week, but I think it will be a New York/New England Super Bowl again. At least they don’t have to travel as far south to get to the game.

I guess I’m the only one who liked the new format. That’s what happens when you ask a graphic artist/web designer. I guess people don’t mind scrolling as much as I thought.

  2. Good Morning from Omaha,

the games this weekend were terrific. the story of the 9ers and Harbaugh has got to be a good one. There are no guarantees With the giants traveling out west to play in candlestick. IF the ravens are to win they have to get to Brady, unlike the bronco’s, and get in his head.

You are right about gronkowski- he is a beast! Ed reed will have his hands full with him.Its been an interesting season and the playoffs were also very interesting.

sounds like elway is taking a safe position on the tebow band wagon. He is almost in the trunk of that vehicle just in case tebow goes flat.

    Love the look!

  3. Harry,

Here’s the reason I made the change in a nutshell: “As for your site, I liked being able to scroll down to see older cartoons. It works better with the small screen on my laptop.”

Makes sense to me as we got smaller and smaller ways to read and digest the web. I hadn’t really thought of it that way. It’s all about the ipad’s and kindle’s now. So I changed it to this. I think it works for what everyone wants. I hope so. Thanks for your feedback as always.

  4. Gene,

You are right on. The games this weekend will be phenomenal! Still kills me I won’t have the Saints to root for. The Broncos are a few seasons away from really being an elite team. Interestingly though, two of the top three quarterbacks in the league are watching the rest of the playoffs from home.Do we put too much emphasis on the quarterback position? I mean Joe Flacco isn’t exactly Joe Namath.

  5. GMFO-

football is a team game. Yes Brady is very good at what he does but if he did not have the beast playing TE and an otherwise great cast of characters (like the chiefs or bronco’s) just how good would he be? Belicheck has done a great job of surrounding him with some of the most talented players. The same goes for the Ravens. If the Pats, as a team, averages say a 9 of 10, then the ravens, overall are about an 8.5 to an 8.8. The giants overall are about an 8-8.5 and the 9ers, while good, overall are about a 7.8.

The outcome when so the teams are so closely matched, comes down to plays and breaks.Like the idiot from the saints fumbling two kickoffs in a row!

The chiefs and broncos, overall, talentwise, are around 5 to a 5.5 and need some serious playmakers and difference makers. Its up to the execs, the draft and free agency.

I am afraid to pick ANY winners this week. I was SO wrong last week!

  6. Drew–

I really like the new background and text colors! Broncos blue and white are easy to read without being “in your face” the way some other color combinations are (see: yellow and black or red and black).

It is a pity that both Green Bay and New Orleans were knocked out of the playoffs so early. I would have watched a matchup between those two teams for sure!

As it stands, I’m rooting for Baltimore at this point.

  7. The website looks great, Drew. I like the ability to scroll down and view the old cartoons, but other than that, I don’t have a strong opinion. It’s your site; go with what looks good to you.

It’s amazing that both the Packers and the Saints are gone.
