Ohio State and BuckLies

Uncategorized

Jim Tressel finally did the right thing and resigned  as head football coach at Ohio State. It’s just a shame he wasn’t fired by the people in charge of the University. Like Woody Hayes before him, Tressel has brought shame on the Ohio State program, by not telling the truth. The Buckeyes job is considered one of the top 5 in the country. With great power comes great responsibility. That is where Jim Tressel failed. And failed horribly. Defiant until the bitter end, his legacy in flames, he leave the Buckeye program in the midst of scandal.

Got a thought on this or the NBA finals or NASCAR or the INDY 500 or baseball? We wanna here it!

  1. Dear Drew,

I wish someone would come out with a poll on the following question. Which Ohio State football coach was the bigger embarrassment to their team Jim Tressel or Woody Hayes?

To bad there are so many younger people who don’t remember what an embarrassment Woody Hayes was in his tenure. If many people remember him it will be mostly for slugging Clemson player Charlie Bauman after having ran out of bounds into the Ohio State sideline yet Woody Hayes was to his football team what Bobby Knight was to basketball years later.

For me I can’t decide how I’d vote on that. To me both were such embarrassments it would be like deciding which would hurt worse. Getting kicked by a horse or a mule.

    All the best

  2. Good Morning from Omaha,

Tressel like so many others, got caught up in not telling the truth initially. And then the lie grew out of control until he couldn’t cover it up any more. IF he had gathered the facts, rolled them out there and let the pieces fall where they may, he might have survived.

Too many people get caught up in reading their press clippings and start to believe what they are reading about themselves. Mr tressel now has time to ground himself and seemingly has no financial problems so I think he’ll be ok, his players had better get an education while at THE ohio state university as the pro’s tend to wonder about “character” issues, such as these, and except for Crazy Uncle Al- tend to shy away from trouble makers.

I am surprised more schools of higher learning with top tier athletic teams don’t have more problems like this, How do other schools keep their athletes in line, or are the problems their , but not reported.

Strive for excellence, nothing but your best.

  3. Now comes the big question, How many lashes with “the wet noodle” will the NCAA administer to OSU? I vote for the “death penalty”, just like SMU was given.

  4. It can’t be help that you may lose anyone you had been a long time friend/coach. The team must move on and focus for their goal. Team must not stop on keep moving because 1 comrade is lost.
