Rockies Very Rocky Season Ends!

Uncategorized

The Rockies Season is officially over. Thank goodness, there is always next year. This was my cartoon for the Rockies magazine that printed in September but is very appropriate for the end of the season. Yes, it was the year of the fan. Maybe next year the Rockies will win a few more for those of you who root root root for the home team!

  1. Dear Drew,

The only way I can compare what it was like to be a Rockies fan this season is to compare it to the first time I ever ran a half-marathon. First of all I had worked 8 hours with me on my feet the whole time. Then I went to the start. At mile 2 I turned my ankle. At mile 5 I pulled a muscle in my thigh. From there things got worse. When I got to the finish line I was 45 minutes behind the person who finished in next-to-last place. I was sore, in a lot of pain, my two biggest emotions was #1 the feeling that I never quit that made me feel good but also #2 the feeling that I wanted to throw up.

That is what this Rockie season felt like to me as well. Glad we made it in one piece but mostly glad that its over and I don’t have to hurt anymore.

    All the best

  2. Good Morning from Omaha,

One bad season and everyone is glad its over? I have been a fan of the KC Slayor since the came to KC in the early 70’s. The last 25 years have all been bad, not just bad, record setting bad. NO playoffs appearances since the late 80’s . Just one winning season in the last 22. That is record setting bad.

I still remember when I was traveling in western Nebraska and listening to the Rockies first picks when they were forming a team back in ’94. It was something I had not “witnessed” or paid attention to during my then short life so I had my ears glued to KOA.

Since then I have claimed the rockies to be my “national league” team. I still think a lot of negative thoughts about the cardinals and their fans having sun burned necks and find myself cheering for the rockies and who ever is playing the cardinals that day.

You have to learn to take things in stride and like the cubbies “wait til next year!”

Strive for excellence, nothing but your best.

    Gene
