Santa’s special delivery

Uncategorized

Let’s face it, it wasn’t exactly a banner year in college football around the state of Colorado. CU and CSU suffered through some pretty rough seasons. Sure, Air Force squeaked into a bowl game and CSU-Pueblo played for the Div II national title (Playoffs? Now there’s a concept) but overall it was a bad year for the Buffs and Rams. For CSU it cost them a head coach. So here’s this months cartoon I drew for Mile High Sports magazine which is available now throughout the Denver area. Ho, ho, ho.

  1. Good Morning from Omaha,

it was a tough year up in the rockies. I mean the rockies didn’t come through and in the off season have not done much to inspire confidence in whats to come in ’12. The buffs are rebuilding and are in a new conference. that is a deadly combination but maybe embree has the answers. Thats the hope anyway. beinemy was an intense college player and quickly made his way to coaching at the NFL level.

CSU? The best thing about going to a game at CSU, for my wife and I anyway, was the view of the mountains and the sunsets. plus we got to see some really good football teams from BYU- with some of the nicest fans you’ll ever meet- and TCU. Its a great city, and a good school but its going to take some work to make them what they were for while under sonny. Out there somewhere is the coach that can do it but like an easter egg hunt in a swamp- finding him is going to be a task.

Strive for excellence, nothing but your best.

  2. Denver and the whole state of Colorado is an NFL market…and that has just as much to do with how horrible the Buffs and Rams are as how good the Broncos are.

  3. Good Morning,

Reading your cartoon Drew, I felt sorry for Ralphie and Cam, they should’ve got a little something for Christmas.

I think CU is in good hands and on its way up again, with the new coaching staff and a new attitude and a little time and patience I think we’ll be competitive again. We’ve just got to give Embree and Bienemy a chance. Remember it just didn’t take one season to get CU where it is now, so it will take some time to pull it back up, but maybe like the Broncos, they will surprise us with a quick turn around.

As for CSU, the jury is still out–at least in my opinion. I’m wondering about the change in the AD. It seems funny to me that (as understand the situation–please correct me if I’m wrong) that this person has never been an AD or worked in the field before, but he was a donor and a friend of the president of the university and all of a sudden becomes the new AD? He may have the best interests of the Rams at heart, but what makes him qualified to be the AD? So I guess it is wait and see who he hires as the head coach and what kind of program they produce. Personally, they made a mistake getting rid of Sonny Lubick in the first place. Anyway, just thoughts for the morning.
