   Nero fiddled while Rome burned, or that is the saying. Americans have developed a knack for avoiding hard choices and seeking refuge from them.

   Even Howie Long used his platform on fox sports to complain that because of the government shut down the armed forces network would not be showing NFL football to our troops on sunday. there was also the threat of no game between the air force and navy(?) last weekend.

   You can cut whatever you want but don’t touch our sports. So, in our world, kids can go hungry, passports can go unprocessed, the terrorists can wander around the country plotting there next move but please keep our sports coming via the cable.

   Its a sad but true fact of life.
