Snubbed

There’s a great of talk this year about the All-Star game and how it often leaves very deserving players off the roster. It all got me to thinking about baseball and disappointment and, well, one thing led to another and I ended up with this. If it sounds like I’m bitter about the Steroids Era of Baseball, it’s because I am.

I still think we should scrap the last 15 years of stats, give the home run crown back to Hank Aaron and start over. Don’t you think?

  1. Good Morning from Omaha,

that is a rather deep thought Drew. Do away with 15 years of baseball history because of a few bad apples?

Sports and people have always had their crutches…booze, pills, pot, and other things, even in this day and age sex. The consequences of their actions will be seen soon enough. A lot of players who were in the NFL and suspected of using steroids have passed on to the great beyond.

They are human and have all the earthly desires that we all have. To be bigger faster stronger .the only difference is they get paid to perform at a childs game.

They can’t and won’t do away with the old records…hank aaron and all be darned. We know what we had, NOW. and baseball is moving on as fast as they can.

wish we all could do the same.

Strive for excellence, nothing but your best.

    Gene

  2. I know I sound like an old codger when I say this (I’m only 32), but Hank Aaron is still the all-time home run hitter in baseball and Roger Maris is still the all-time home run king for a single season. Unless that changes in the coming years, that’s what it will be for me until I’m six feet under.

  3. Why should you feel snubbed? We got to see the best offensive baseball in history! Sure, it was juiced, but deep down, beyond the over reacting ‘purity-of-the-game’ marlkey that baseball fans scream about, do you really care? How are steroids any better the a cleat that allows a batter to dig in better, or sunglasses so an outfielder can spot the ball? Yea, they’re illegal, but so what? I love how certain types of cheating are lovingly talked about, pine tar, scuffing balls, spit balls ect. But if a player even saw steroids they should be invalidated as a player. Hate to break it to you, no one cares. The home run saved baseball and the steroid bloodhounds killed it.
