The BCS Blues

Uncategorized

It happens this time of year. Too many bowl games, not enough meaning. I feel this every year. More so this season than years past. I’ll be rooting for LSU in the so called BCS championship but really feel strongly they should be facing Oklahoma State instead of Alabama. I don’t like Nick Saben. He was the guy who told Drew Brees he wasn’t worth the money that Brees wanted to sign with the Dolphins as a free agent back in 2006. Guess that’s the reason Saben lost the Dolphins job. Too stupid to coach in the NFL.

  1. If you really hate the BSC (like I do) then you should root for a Bama win. That would really throw a monkey wrench in the championship series. Bring on the playoffs!

  2. Drew,

As I wrote a week or so ago I like the bowl season just because it gives me more games to watch and a chance to see some teams I never saw all year. As long as it is a good game I’m all for it. I do agree there are probably too many bowls when you consider that teams without a winning record are playing in them. I strongly disagree with that approach.

Delighted to have you pulling for my Tigers of course. And ditto on your sentiments on Lil Nicky as we now call him. Yes, we liked him well enough when he was here, but not near to the extent that Les Miles receives. The media had to wait until he was gone to describe him as a “cold fish”. I had no problem with him leaving LSU and going to the NFL. My disdain for him is because he is simply a liar. I personally saw three times where he said he was not going to Alabama or something of that sort while he was still with in Miami. Not a “no comment” or “I’m not going to discuss it”, but a flat out “I am not going to be the coach at Alabama” while having his agent working the multi-million dollar deal. The only good thing about the BCS matchup is getting to beat him twice in one year and another opportunity to watch his sideline meltdowns.

    Geaux Tigers.

  3. Hey Drew,

Lay off the Bowl Games. Yes, nobody watches them, but it’s an opportunity for the kids to play another game. Yes, playoffs would be better, but if we are going to have bowls, I don’t have a problem with there being 30 of them. Nobody’s making me watch.

  4. GMFO-

Notre dame/ FSU would have been a marquee game ten years or so ago- and its not too bad tonight. The Baylor- washington game is a chance to see the heisman trophy winner. Except for NE vs south carolina, the rest of the games are catch as catch can in my mind. EVen LSU vs Alabama is not “must see TV”.

Maybe its just too much of a good thing but really I would like to see the games mean something to someone.

Looking forward to getting my 2012 calendar.

Strive for excellence, nothing but your best.

    Gene
