The Tortures of Training Camp

Uncategorized

It’s been a busy week and it’s not quite over yet. I have another cartoon over on ESPN.com about A-Rods 600th home run. Be sure to take a look and share it on facebook or tweet it. You can do that too on my blog right here under the cartoon by clicking on the Just Tell a Friend icon.

I’m feeling a little under the weather this last week or so. Still can’t shake something I came down with on my recent trip to Comic-Con. Serves me right for hanging around grown adults dressed like Batman and Wonderwoman (which wasn’t too bad actually) or worse, Klingons. But deadlines call regardless of the way I feel. Just hoping the antibiotics kick in soon. have a great day.

  1. This whole Brett Farve saga keeps making me think of the song (don’t know who sings it) “Will he stay or will he go”

I empathize with the bug you caught at Comic-Con. I go through the same thing every year at a local convention called Nan Desu Kan (a conventions for lovers of japanese animation, manga (a.k.a. comic’s) and cosplay (dressing up like a character) among other things). That is why every year for the weekend convention I take 2 weeks off from work. 3-4 days to prepare for the convention, the 3 days of the convention, and then a week off to RECOVER from the convention. Still though its a blast and I look forward to the fun, silliness, and exhaustion of it every year.

    All the best

  2. Good Morning from Omaha,

I hate to say this but Brett Farve is like a baby with a dirty diaper, he going to keep crying for attention until he gets the attention he wants and then everything will be fine. Maybe, just maybe if we ignore him he will go back to camp and play or just fold his tent and go on with his life.

He now says he doesn’t know what he is going to do….He pulled the same scam last year. He is craving the attention he missed during the off season. I really feel bad for the Vikings ( not) if he had been upfront, on way or the other, they could make some arrangements to get on without him. But now THEY are stuck in lurch. Too bad for them. We shouldn’t get caught up in the wake he is making.

Hope you get to feeling better soon. You may have caught the airplane crud that a lot of people get when they fly. Take it easy big guy.

Strive for excellence, nothing but your best.

  3. Right on Gene, it’s people who keep fixating on this that keeps it going. I’m willing to bet that if I blogged that Favre was on a plane to Minneapolis it would be all over ESPN in 20 minutes.

  4. I’d like “Things from Training Camp that Suck for a $1,000, Alex”

    Alex: Elvis Dumervil

Me: What is a torn pectoral muscle sidelining him for the next 4 months?

How in the world can the Broncos season get any worse in training camp? Yikes!!!

Feel better, Drew. Sounds like you have a case of Fan-Boy Flu. A good cure is to read some Ayn Rand.

  5. Mike. I’ve never read any Ayn Rand. Might have to do that someday soon.

I did finish The Art of Racing in the Rain last night. OHMYGOSH! What a fantastic book.

  6. Anybody listen to Tony Dungy on Dan Patrick today? Like his sane, thoughtful, knowledgable comments on Brett and the Vikings. If they are willing to deal with Brett, they better have backup plans. Still wondering if the crack down on steriods has caused the rash of injuries, conditioning needs to change for what their bodies can really take……..

Like the A-Rod cartoon, I think it’s an amazing accomplishment. The 600, not neccesarily your cartoon. But considering you are not feeling 100%……

    Feel better, Drew.
