At a Snails Pace

NFL Negotiations are moving along. If you can call it that. I thought part of negotiating was actually talking. In a room. Together.

At this rate we will have an NFL season again, sometime in the year 2525. That’s what the song was all about wasn’t it?

Pathetic. Of course we are talking about a league who couldn’t find a Super Bowl Seat for 400 loyal hard paying fans, but made sure A-Rod was pretty comfy in his suite. They even made sure he was being fed popcorn. So don’t expect this thing to get settled any day soon. Thank goodness for baseball!

  1. Dear Drew,

When I was a teen I use to hear of guy’s in their cars playing games of “chicken”. For those reading this who don’t know what that is that is where two cars come from opposite directions at each other and the first person who swerves away to avoid crashing “loses” while the person who was willing to potentially crash their vehicle “won”.

Well in this case with the NFL and player’s union they’re game of “chicken” isn’t being played with cars but the concept is still valid. Both sides are looking to see who blinks first, who will swerve out of the way to avoid crashing first. One problem I see here. Both sides have ego’s that are so big that I could see both sides “winning” by crashing and burning.

I hope this analogy makes sense. The only other example I could think of was a Dr. Seuss story called “The Zax” but wasn’t sure how many people read that one and it would take too long to explain.

    All the best,

    Louis

  2. Good Morning from Omaha,

the owners have more money than the players ,who were asked to save their last three game checks. The owners are in no hurry to get to the table because they know the players are not as financially secure as the owners.

the owners still get the tv money, 9 billion divided by 32, and in most cases football teams are just another toy in the owners toy chest and not the only way they make money.

although to hear the owners talk they are going broke anyway.

I love football pro, college I love it all but there is nothing like a high school football game with the kids out there playing because they love the game. the parents in the stands beaming, the marching band, the bad popcorn and the elementary school kids running around the field playing tag. That is football at its most pure stage. Its not perfect and most of the kids will never play beyond high school but the boys and the occasional girl are out there no doubt giving it their all.

as far as the NFL- a pox on both of their houses!

Strive for excellence, nothing but your best.

  3. I will be doing my best to avoid any coverage of the pending lockout. Hearing about millionaires fighting with billionaires might be enough to push me away from enjoying the game if it does come back. Bring on the Rockies!

  4. This stalemate proves that the owners, players, and the league, could care less about us, the fans. They are all a bunch of greedy vultures waiting for the fresh meat of more money. It is disgusting and extremely disappointing.

    Signed,

A Very Discouraged, Life-long, Bronco Fan
