Bowling anyone?

Bowling? Not me.

Put me down for the 1 to 5 category. Which actually will amount to maybe 1: Texas vs. Alabama (and only then because I’m not a fan of Nick Saban). Other than that I’ll be watching anything but a worthless, meaningless bowl game named after a corporate sponsor that probably laid off 1000 people this year so they could hold on to their stupid bowl sponsorship.

Yep. That bowl system really is something. Riveting isn’t it?

How many Bowls are you going to watch this year?

  1. Wow Drew! Love it, and I love the 2010 calendar!

Include this cartoon in the 2011 calendar, and then tell us how you really feel about the insignificant bowls!

  2. Good Morning from Omaha,

What a great cartoon. I don’t know if I am burned out on football or have other(not neccessarily better) things to do with my life.

If the weather would cooperate, we have 14″ of snow, I could be outside riding or walking. Its Decembruary and I have joined the mall walkers.

I will see if the Huskers have found an offense in the last month, but there are just too many games with teams I couldn’t give a wit about.

Texas/Alabama could be a good game but I have class that night until 9 or so but will catch what I can.

Strive for excellence, nothing but your best.

  3. Ditto with you Drew. People who are for the current setup mention about how the bowls are so great. Aside from the top two or possible three bowls, which have national title implications and a bowl your favorite team is involved in, there’s nothing that’s all that interesting about the other bowls.

Sure, you might like watching football in general, but the rest of the teams aren’t playing for anything, other than winning a game. Which I don’t understand why people talk about bowl records, when most of the teams aren’t playing for anything.

  4. There is nothing involved in any of the three big bowl games either! Somewhere in a bracket or plus one game, one of the two teams(or both) in the national championship would have been beaten. What a rip off to teams like TCU or Boise St. No! Lets put these two teams together in a prime time game with competition from monday nights CBS sitcom line up(I did research look it up). There was an upset coming to one of these teams, at least one! How many people care about watching any of these games? I would say very slim percent of the population. Keep you eye balls off the television set and keep your attention somewhere else. Boycott the bowls and you will see change. Dont go towards the TV light, dont do it!!!

  5. Darn, there isn’t a “None” option because out of the 30+ bowls that are out there, I’m not going to watch any of them. With that many bowls, they could do one a day in December. It is like the long drawn out baseball and basketball seasons.

    Meh.

  6. Not me! As an Idaho Alum I am thrilled to see the Vandals in a bowl game. I’ll be watching the Humanitarian Bowl Wednesday night and I watched the New Mexico Bowl before Christmas. BTW, the New Mexico bowl was a great win by an underdog and last year’s game was a defensive clinic from both teams. Check it out next year.

  7. Good evening Drew –

I’m with Gee, and going with “NONE” as an option. The only team in a bowl game that I cared about, I missed the game because of work (OSU Beavers got spanked, anyway).

So, meh… there’s new episodes of Doctor Who to watch instead, and that’s more fun! 🙂

  8. As a kid I remember New Year’s Day and possibly New Year’s Eve as a feast of college football bowl games. We got up not to watch some silly parade but to watch nothing but football all day and night long.

Now, I just don’t care. One or two meaningless games a day, and a BCS selection system that reduces a sweet sport to nothing but statistical analysis… meh. Give me the parade and wake me for the Superbowl.
