1. Good Morning from Omaha,

   I will admit that dan hawkins has made mistakes as in not playing tyler hanson at quarterback.

   He didn’t get stupid over night. At boise state he was not an idiot coach. And if given a chance

   he can build a team that is very very competitive.

   And I am not coming at this from a NE. point of view. He has got to find better players, but with parity in

   the NCAA and BCS its getting more difficult to bring out to wherever. I will admit that getting a player to come to Boulder is admittedly easier than getting one to come to Lincoln, NE. Just the view from Boulder is worth the price of admission.

   Texas plays a big part in where recruits come from, Hence why Notre Dame played washington state in San Antonio. If you can’t get the players to come to South Bend, you bring South Bend to the players.

   give the guy 5 years, he is at 3, and see what he has done.

   They have a lot of problems other than that but it all begins on the inside, center, guard and tackles.

   and you build out from there on both sides of the ball.

   Strive for excellence, nothing but your best.

2. I just thought that Ohio St. was the only team that sucked, but geez the Buffalo’s are todays college version of the Bad News Bears! BLAAAH!

3. Its no wonder that running back quit for the Buffalo’s, I quit too!

4. Gene – he’s had 4 years, and it’s getting worse. He did not build the program at Boise State, his predecessor did, and he inherited it and put the polish on.

   He’s lost the team, the boosters, and most of all, the fans – when you have 8000 empty seats on Homecoming, it’s time to clean house. Especially given the apparent major rift in the coaching staff.

5. Pat and Gene,

   The actual real success at Boise has been after he left, though he did recruit a fair amount of those on the roster.

   More than anything he’s lost his locker room cred, not to mention the backing of boosters who carry the clout, authority and influence to end Hawkins reign. Gene- this has a much different feel than those days with Bill McCartney. You could see the progress in the losses in McCartney’s teams. That’s not the case right now in Boulder. If anything they’re regressing.

   What bothers me most is that the coaching staff seems oblivious to the situation around them. Everyone’s all over Darrel Scott because he sends a two word text message “I’m Out” to his head coach. Seems to me if you had an actual relationship with your players you wouldn’t be given two word text messages.

   Add Darian Hagens complete blindness “I didn’t see it coming” and the flippant comment “he’s just another set of legs” and you’ve got a real problem. If I’m a running back in Boulder I’d hate to think that the only value I have to the team is just “another set of legs”. Really coach? “Gee, I was kind of hoping you actually cared about me as a human being”. Guess not in Boulder.

   you all are a lot closer to the situation than I am.

   another set of legs? you have got to be kidding me. like you implied, thanks for caring coach.

   from the outside, while the loses might portend getting better, it is hard to find. I saw the cu and Ku game and at times they didn’t look bad at all. they can get up for a game like Nebraska and give them a real tussle. and even win.

   the team should be like a family not the hatfields and Mc coys.

   I didn’t know that the coaches were that un attached to the team.

   I don’t know if Hawkins has the gumption to bring this together or not. It takes a strength of character that he may not have found yet.

   You can only hope. I know when they brought him in as the coach I thought they made a great hire. I still think in the right situation…..I think the same of briles at Baylor. He appears to be a heck of coach that is putting together a program. he is just shy a few players who don’t want to leave TX of having a very good football team. Time will tell it all
