Oh Deer…

Uncategorized

So I think my luck is starting to change. I hit a deer tonight on the way home from Wyoming. It didn’t go through the windshield, and didn’t cause me to careen off the road and into a ditch, which in Wyoming often means they don’t find your bones until springtime. The deer, unfortunately, didn’t fare as well, which breaks my heart. It will probably take a few sessions with a therapist for me to deal with the guilt and the trauma of it all. But I’m alive. The car, still assessing the damage but it got me home. Life can change in a heartbeat. Yes. I think my luck is changing. I’ll be back with more cartoons on Wednesday.

  1. Good Morning from Omaha,

Glad to hear you doing well after your incident. its scary because you probably didn’t see it dart into the road and into your path. and by the time you realize its there- its too late. Cars can be fixed or replaced. People and deer, are losses forever.

wyoming? you wanted to see what nebraska’s poor cousin lives like?

what a way to start 2012. Its all good from here on out!

Strive for excellence, nothing but your best.

    Gene

  2. Wow, Drew! Sorry to hear about the deer and the car. More importantly, I am so glad you are okay!!! Life without a deer, I can manage. Life without Drew – well, I’m sure I speak for all of your family, friends and fan, in saying, that is something we would not want to consider at all!

Things like “deer vs. car” happen frequently here in the upper Midwest. Thankfully, the deer know better to stay off the road when I’m driving. Those Wyoming deer aren’t used to all the traffic we have up here.

    Relieved,

    Peg

I loved your comment about Wyoming. I may have to tell that one to my brother-in-law sometime.
