Rough starts

The Cubbies have had to place two pitchers on the DL already. Needless to say, that’s not the way you want to start a new season. This one is from the Chicago Tribune.

How about your teams? Hot or cold?

  1. Good Morning from Omaha

both of my favorite teams are on the top of their divisions. I don;t get to write this very often but the slayoR are leading the AL central. will it last, who knows. so you take the joy and run with it as far as you can because its a long season.

Glad Louis is feeling better. You just don’t understand how good you have it until you are allowed to peak into another persons life. Someone once said that if everyone put all their troubles in a big pile for the world to see, we would want our back in a hurry!

Strive for excellence, nothing but your best.

    Gene

  2. Dear Drew,

Looks like the bad karma that followed the Rockies at the end of last season decided to split off and head to the Chicago Cubs and Boston Red Sox. To bad it couldn’t have gotten shipped to the Yankee’s. They need some humility.

    All the best

    Louis

  3. The Orioles are in first place! In the dog-eat-dog NL East! I just might have to start watching baseball again…

  4. I too am very glad the Louis is feeling better and that the wrist is starting to heal. I’ve had several occasions in my life when work was interrupted for health reasons or illness in the family. You do want to get back to it because you do miss it. Just don’t rush it Louis. We like ya at peak condition for the pennant race!

  5. Loving the start of this baseball season, the Rox are playing well, the RSox suck, can anyone say 13 to 5 loss to the Rays?, the Yankees are doing what they should be doing, the Mariners still have Ichiro. Love all the highlights Tulo is providing! The Oregon State Beavers are atop the PAC10, wow, does it get any better than this?

  6. And Drew, really good Tiger toon on ESPN! Which begs the question how do they get a jacket to fit the golfer? Is that what they do, measure them after the exit interview? Go to commercial, whip up a jacket by the time they are out of commercial?

  7. Dear Sherri,

To answer your question about the Masters jacket, as I recall the Masters officials have several jackets of various sizes available for the “putting on ceremony”. They just find out the guy’s normal jacket size and get one that is just a little bit bigger than that but no so big that it looks baggy. Then at a later time he is measured for his “official jacket”.

Of course if the winner of the Masters has won their before they just grab his official jacket.

    Hope that helps.

Also to Drew and Gene. Thank you for your kindness. 2nd day back at work. Wrist is working well. Next two days are very important. If my traditional dialysis access works well again tomorrow then on thursday I can lose the cathetor which is a real pain to deal with.

    All the best to everybody

    Louis

  8. Final thought. Forgot to type it. I’m glad I’m back to work. Makes me feel closer to “normal” again. (though many would say I’ve never been “normal” )

  9. Minnesotans are welcoming Gene’s slayoRs to the best ballfield in the league, Target Field. It is a beautiful sunny day…high 60s, whispy clouds, and a ton of sunshine! The Twins, and their fans, are happy to have their closer, Joe Nathan, back in the line up. He was out last year recovering from Tommy John surgery. I think the most exciting thing for the Twins is having Japanese phenom, Tsuyoshi Nishioka, on their roster. Too bad he broke his leg last week. He’ll be back in the line-up in a few weeks. (The Japanese media took Nishi’s injury very hard, according to local bloggers.)

The Twins are 3-6 right now. Slow start, but it won’t last long. It’s a long season. Look for awesome things to come from this team!

On a completely different note, I made the mistake(?) of watching video, on the internet, at work today of Adam Foote’s last game. (Never let your boss see you cry at your desk. lol) It is a sad day for Avs fans. I’m glad the team won, to send Foote off on (at least) a semi-high last night.

Louis….don’t overdo it. Take it easy, everything in moderation. I hope your recovery continues to go well. 🙂

That’s all from the banks of the Mississippi River in Pig’s Eye (St. Paul), MN………

    Peg
