Tebow’s Magic Touch

Tebow Time is never boring. What happened against the Dolphins is almost inexplicable. Tebow’s will to win, the intangibles he brings to this team are really tough to identify. For 3 and 3/4 quarters Tebow looked, well, very much like a college quarterback. Some of his passes were absolutely horrendous. But as the game wound down, Tebow came alive, made the plays and got the win. Kind of like a #7 we used to witness on Sundays gone by. 1. Tebow pulled something out of somewhere!

I like the rabbit’s vaguely disoriented look… like he just got out for the first time in the last 4 weeks.

Detroit is up next, that’s defense is going to be a tougher test for our young magician.

Drew… how are you going to resolve the conflict of interest drawing for the Tribune and various Colorado publications? Maybe a side-by-side of toons for each market?

  2. Point of clarification on the last post… meant to mention the conflict is the December Denver v. Chicago game.

  3. Dear Drew,

The only way I’ve been able to describe the game against Miami was Elway-esque. Now let me explain what I mean by this because it means more than just the fact he came from behind.

It starts with coach Jim Fox doing his best impersonation of Dan Reeves. Like Reeves, Fox was running what I use to call the “Rockette” Offense (Run, two, three, KICK! Run, two, three, KICK!!!!) then at the point where each had nothing left to lose they let their QB’s use their natural abilities and Tebow like Elway did 40+ times in his career brought the team on his shoulders and carry them to the finish line successfully

I was surprised when I heard on KOA radio that in the first three quarters Tebow only passed 8 times total – completing 3 for 20-something yards.

This game’s comeback by Tebow and company could be compared to one of Elway’s greatest comeback games of all time against Kansas City when Elway brought the team back from a 10+ point deficit with less than 2 minutes to play and still pull out a win. Now granted Tebow had more time but it was still very comparable.

    All the best

  4. good morning from Omaha,

wow, what a game. we were driving back from Denver yesterday and got to listen to the game as I was going back home.

Between the first 3 quarters and the boredom of I 76 between fort morgan and big springs, NE it was all I could do to stay awake.

BUT when that magic kicked in- wow that trip sure got interesting. I heard the post game show and interviews and couldn’t count the number of times tebow said believe in the 2 minutes he spent with radio guy. His belief in himself, his teamates and his god makes the Bronco’s a dangerous team.

Don’t worry about next week- let the guys enjoy today and the W- get McCoy off the enterprise and let fox help him doctor up a game plan that will loosen t-bow up for the entire game and not just the last 7 minutes. Come on guys, he can play but you have to take the choke collar off and let the big dog hunt.

Strive for excellence, nothing but your best.

  5. It took him overtime versus the winless Dolphins. Curious what he’ll do against a good defense.

  6. Love the “Rockette” reference, Louis. I’m going to steal that.

Tebow has a long, hard season ahead of him if the coaching staff won’t let him stretch his wings until the last five minutes of the game. I actually fell asleep yesterday during the 2nd quarter and woke up to hear Dan Marino pronounce the game as “boring.” He was right. We switched over to Red Zone in the early fourth and went to watch the kids carve pumpkins in the back yard when the brain trust finally let the choke chain off.

Tebow is the new Heart Attack Kid. Of course, it will save the rest of us a fortune on meds if the coaches will actually tailor the offense to play to his strengths. We saw what happens when they let him go; now let’s remake the offense around him so that he can thrive.

The icing on the cake: the Chargers and Raiders both lost, with the Raiders self-destructing. Fortunately for us, they have a bye between our next game with them, so that the sting of getting shut out might go down a bit. I won’t count on it, though.

  7. @ Louis…. you took the words right out of my mouth!

Tebow reminded me so much of Elway – in his ability to scramble, and think on his feet. It was such a joy to watch those highlights! I’m so glad we came out with a win. My 89 year-old father left me a voice message that started out as, “Hi, this is Sam “Tebow” and I have to talk about that win!” He cracks me up. I think that is my Dad’s way of saying how excited he is for the future of the Broncos, and that he agrees with Coach Fox’s decision to put #15 in the game. I couldn’t agree with him more!
