  1. Dear Drew,

This may rate a “10” on the cornpone scale but I thought of a parody song (or at least a snippet of one) along the lines of the song “Where have all the flowers gone.” I hope you get a laugh or at least a chuckle out of this……

“Where have all the defense gone, offense passing.

Where have all the defense gone, so long ago.

Where have all the defense gone. Butkus hitting everyone.

Now they play like they don’t care. Now they play like they…..don’t care.”

    All the best

    Louis

P.S. I’m not sure if I mentioned this before. Right now there is a lot on my life’s plate. If I did then I apologize for repeating myself. This is an idea for your future “caption contest”. Do you remember Mad Magazines “Snappy comebacks to stupid questions”? Maybe you could consider doing something along the same lines for your caption contest (if it wouldn’t be breaking any copywrite laws). Draw a cartoon. Have one person make a comment then have the balloon comment blank where people could put in their snappy comeback. It might be a good idea. Then again it could be a rotten one. I just wanted to put it out there for you.

    Again, all the best.

  2. Good Morning from Omaha,

they tie the hands of the secondary, have various definitions of holding that may or may not include grabbing up to a foot of fabric of a jersey and then we wonder where the defense has gone?

Offense they say, sells tickets, but as the old axiom goes- DEFENSE wins championships!

The first one to 50 wins

Strive for excellence, nothing but your best.

  3. Like Gene says, the defenses have had their hands tied tighter and tighter the past few years. Until the rules committee gets their act together this is what you get.
