Ohio State: Tressel Trouble

The BuckLies here. I miss the days of coaches with integrity. This is what happens when we make sports more important than they should be.

  1. Good Morning from Omaha,

sweater vest or not, Jim is trouble…Just like martha stewart, richard nixon and a host of others its not so much the crime, which is bad enough, its the lies and the covering up that continues to take down the rich and powerful. the president of Ohio State University, Dr.Gee, who always stress the integrity of the NCAA and the student/athlete? when voting against a playoff system has found himself in a quandary in his own back yard.

That holier than thou attitude had better have some substance and he best rid his fine institution of higher learning of this lying skunk, quickly, or his whole aura of credibility will shot full of holes.

People just never learn. Its not the crime, so much, as the coverup and its a lesson that for some reason has to learned and relearned over and over again. Maybe they think they are too smart to get caught or that they are “too big to fail”. who knows but the truth is like a slow drip from a pipe…it just keeps going until you either fix it or it continues and does a great deal of damage by denying it is happening. Its our choice.

Strive for excellence, nothing but your best.

    Gene

  2. Dear Drew,

Almost makes you wish for the days of Woody “Fist of Fury” Hayes doesn’t it.

    All the best,

    Louis

P.S. Did you catch the big comedy show a.k.a. the chicago cubs blooper reel vs the Rockies?

  3. When he played at Oklahoma State, Dez Bryant missed nearly all of his senior year for having dinner with Deion Sanders and then not turning into Pericles when asked about it by the NCAA Secret Police. I’m curious as to what’s going to happen to Jim Tressel, who flat out lied about several players taking cash.

But the NCAA punishes players, not coaches. A disgraced coach is back in another school often before the fire starts. Players, bound by letters of intent and draconian transfer rules (not to mention that great college student tradition of being broke), are stuck in the house while the house burns down. Reggie Bush lost his Heisman ex post facto; Cam Newton may yet do the same. And the ones who’ll really pay are the players at those schools yet to come, whose only crime is bad timing.

  4. I agree, it is because sports have become more important than integrity. Does this not go back to the almighty dollar? But all of this NCAA stuff makes my head spin. Coach was trying to protect his players for altruistic or self serving reasons, players are expected to go to school, eat, participate at such a high level in their sports, and not give into all that is offered. The NCAA is so huge and twisted, not unlike our tax system, and so full of themselves and trying to maintain integrity. Or their reason for existing. There goes my head………..
