The Refs are Back in Town!

Uncategorized

They’re BAAAAAAAACKKKK! And just in the nick of time. Sunday could very well be the first and the last time an NFL referee gets a standing ovation just for walking on the field. It will last until the first flag is thrown and the honeymoon is over.

I, by the way, may be the only one sad to see this happen. The replacement refs cartoons have just been way too much fun!

  1. Good morning from Omaha,

The football stadiums will ring out with “welcome back” from the old Kotter tv show as the real officials take the field. And yes they will miss calls just as often as the replacement officials did. They have the respect of the players and coaches that the replacement guys did not have so the hue and cry across the country of their missed will be no where near as loud.

the theory goes that the regular officials kind of had the NFL over a barrel anyway. Most, if not all, of the regular officials have regular jobs and the NFL is only part time work. Most of the officials make around 150K a year doing games. that is in addition to whatever they make in there regular jobs. They can take it or leave it and seemingly where perfectly content to just wait it out with a shrug of the shoulder.

Dont worry about your posts being erratic. You are building a new life down there in TX. I cant speak for everyone but you know I’ll be here awaiting your next comic revelation about the world of sports.

Strive for excellence, nothing but your best.

  2. I am so glad that I don’t have to boycott watching any game because of the officials 🙂

I believe that the game will be safer for the players, because the players now know that the officials know the rules and that they won’t get away with anything. I have heard that many of the players were “pushing the envelope”, because the replacement officials did not know all of the rules.

Most students after having a substitute teacher, behave better (at least for a while) for the regular teacher.
